Very attractive little painting of an Italian period river scene with hills, buildings and mountains in the background. Actual painting measures 12 cm wide by 8 cm deep More »
Very attractive little painting of an Italian period river scene with hills, buildings and mountains in the background. Actual painting measures 12 cm wide by 8 cm deep (4.3/4 inches by 3.1/4 inches). Unknown dates, but it has the look and feel of a late 19th to early 20th century piece. Framed (later) in a gilded frame with brown matt. Frame has a few areas of wear (mainly in two corners). Painting is in excellent condition. The white marks and indistinct colour in part of the images is just reflection when trying to photograph the painting through the glass.
Postage quoted ($15.00) is standard airmail, no tracking. For fully tracked and insured, courier post costs US$45.00. Specify if you would like to upgrade to courier when ordering. « Less

This is an original Heinrich Bohn Oil painting acquired by us from an fellow antique dealer. It came out of an estate. Bohn is a noted European portrait and landscape artist. typical gallery prices for his work is in the 8-12,000.00 range. This painting was done in the Berlin Germany region. Bohn lived from 1846-1883.
This piece has been in a family collection for decades. We believe it to be in its original frame which is in good condition. The canvas measures 22 1/2 x 30 inches and is one of Bohns larger works.
Stretchers are period. This has not been re-stretched or relined. It has some condition issues that will be resolved by a proper cleaning of the painting and very minor conservation.
We invite your personal inspection of this painting to authenticate it. Bohn's work rarely comes up for sale. This is your opportunity to acquire a prominent piece for your collection. Gallery and institution inquires invited.
We will provide addition photos on request. « Less

Adolphe Monticelli ~ Grotto signed oil on canvas ~ wonderful oil by one of the most influential artists of all time. Vincent van Gogh and his brother were collectors of the artist, and actually made a catalogue of the artis's work. Vincent called him a visionary, and stated to merely finish with his work what Monticelli had started. Monticelli himself, always stated he was way ahead of his time, and people would learn to value his work at a later date. Some curators todate have argued against the artist, but my argument is always: would you take Van Gogh's word or a contemporary curator\'s word? One classic mistake made in regards to Monticelli's art is to not view in in light of the time he lived. A true pre-impressionist. Fabulous art, the colour of the sky jumps at you; thereby one can sense the sheer energy in the work. A true visionary!
