At first glance, this unusual, whimsical piece probably doesn't "read" as a candle holder. But as the overhead detail shot shows, there are receptacles for four candles, as well as two hollowed-out "bowls" for nuts or candy. The works of New York-born Elizabeth Weistrop (American, 1916-1999) have been exhibited across the United States, and she was awarded many commissions and prizes during her long career. Much of her work - and this piece is a perfect example - displayed her strong connection with nature and realism. Wouldn't this look great lighting your holiday table? Signed in the casting, "E. 50% Off Entire Inventory!! This is a pair of handsome Candleholder made during the second part of the 19th century from Lime Tree. This pair is very interesting as one is gilded with gold leaf while the other one is silvered with silver leaf. Both are intricately sculpted and adorned with fluted and acanthus patterns and standing on a tripod base. Note that this pair was electrified by the middle part of the 20th century and that the fake candles can be removed. This pair would have to be rewired t the US Standard if you wish to use them as lamps. Several scratches and chips can be seen here and there due to the age. Do not hesitate to request additional pictures. Circa date 1880. Dimensions: 40 ¼â€(height) x 7 5/8â€(base)
