Antique Victorian 18carat gold, Siberian amethyst and pearl pendant necklace with elephant theme. Made circa 1880. Chain is 15 1/8 inches long when extended (not including the pendant). Pendant drops 1 3/4 inches. The central amethyst is 3/4inch (20mm) long. Total weight:25.3grams. AMethyst approximately 21.5carats. Smaller amethysts 4mm each. Necklace consists of a chain and pendant. The links of the chain are very unusual - composed of a pair of leaves with loops joining to the next pair. The pendant is quite exceptional: a very large amethyst, almost 22carats, rectangular brilliant cut, with canted corners, colette set in gold, the mount conforming to the shape of the amethyst. On either side is a row of pearls, ending in a smaller, round amethyst. A scroll of gold snakes along the bottom. The upper two corners are embellished with a pair of elephant heads - each with fantastic detail. Workmanship is of the highest order. Very rare theme and quality. Antique, VIctorian flower-form brooch. Made of 18carat yellow gold, 5 large Siberian amethysts and a pearl. Made circa 1880-1900. Measurements:2 inches long; weighs 27.3grams; Bottom amethyst is approx 18mm long. Size of amethysts: 15.57ct; 15.96ct; 13.64ct; 13.24ct; 20.08ct. Pearl is 4.5mm. Flower-form - the Victorians were particularly fond of the Pansy. 5 deep violet/purple petals made of oval amethysts, seperated from each other by softely textured gold in foliage form. The same kind of foliage forms a ring around a pearl, set in the heart of the flower. Gems are of a fabulous quality as is the workmanship of the entire piece. Due to the weight of the brooch/pendant, there is a double clasp at the back. There is also a loop so that the piece can be worn as a pendant. No hallmarks, but the gold tests for 18k. xceptional pair of antique bracelets. 22carat gold, each set with 3 large amethysts. Made circa 1860. Each bracelet measures approximately 7 inches end to end. Together, they weigh 65.7grams. Each bracelet has approximately 29carats of amethysts. The tops of the bracelets are really all about the wonderful, deep violet amethysts: two ovals flanking one rectangular, with rounded corners. Set in high carat gold that shows off the purple colour to greatest effect. Joined on one side to the rest of the band by a hinge and on the other, by a clasp. The rest of the bangles are even more fabulous, if possible, consisting of a mesh-like band composed of larger than usual links, joined to their neighbours on all 4 sides. The borders have beautiful edges with wirework rings surrounding gold beads. safety chains - in good order, for added security. The previous owner, a retired antiques dealer, believed these bracelets to be French, but in the absence of any visible hallmarks, we can only assume European. Very good condition.
