For sale I have a Wonderful Piece of Art Pottery made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. What I have is a Jardinière and it is done in one of Weller's Most Popular Glazes or Lines. The Glaze is known "Woodcraft". and some Weller Collectors call this "Muskota". The Jardinière is rather large as it stands Flower Frog stands 5 3/4" tall and is 7 3/8" in diameter from the Fox Cubs nose..
The Jardinière depicts 3 Fox Cubs hanging out of a Tree Trunk hole or Den in an Oak Tree. They are nestled together peeking out of a Black hole inside the tree. The piece displays wonderful earth tone glazes of Matte Brown and Green. The detail is just wonderful as the background is sculpted to look like real bark on a Oak Tree as well as the Three Fox Cubs. The side and back of the Jardinière shows wonderful detailed Oak Leaves. The Fox Cubs are done in raised relief and have very good detail and are not distorted like I have seen on other Weller Fox Cub pieces.
The Jardinière is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The inside is extremely clean and shows minor signs of use. The piece is not signed on the bottom but there is a large letter "H" written in a Black Marker or Glaze. This was more than likely the finishers mark. I also noticed some pencil writing on the bottom Glaze. It looks like it says a name that I cannot make out and I can see a second work with a large W. This could Possible be the W in Weller Pottery but not sure. This line carried a paper label and was rarely marked.
Those of you who collect Weller's Woodcraft and Muskota Line know exactly what you are looking at and I'm sure you will welcome this one into your collection. I guarantee this Jardinière to be made by The Weller Pottery Company. This is one of the Rarer of the Woodcraft Muskota pieces to own. This Jardinière would look just wonderful on that Stickley. Mission, Arts and Crafts Style Bookcase. This piece was made Circa 1917-1928. « Less

For sale is a tall Art Pottery Pitcher or Ewer made by The Hampshire Pottery Company of Keene, NH. It is just outstanding!! The Pitcher stands an impressive 11 1/4" tall and has a diameter of approximately 5 1/2" at its widest point.
The Vase displays a dark cucumber green glaze gives this piece that organic Arts and Crafts look. The applied handle has a beautiful acanthus leaf design at the top and bottom of the handle where it meets the body. I am simply amazed that the delicate handle has survived almost 100 years without breaking. The glaze is extremely similar to Grueby and Weller glazes I have seen in the past.
The Pitcher is considered to be in very good to excellent condition. The only issue I can find is an inclusion in the body of the Pitcher. There is an area of white clay that feels like a small lump of clay protruding through the glaze. This is factory and not damage. The pitcher is signed with the impressed Hampshire stamp signature. The Hampshire Pottery with the M in a circle Mark was used from 1904-1914 during Cadmon Robertson's tenure. There was no pottery produced from his death in 1914 till 1916, A period of almost 2 years. I would say this piece was made Circa 1916-1922.
Hampshire Pottery started producing Matte Glazes in 1891. This was 7 years earlier than their main Competitor Grueby Faience of Boston, Mass. Hampshire Pottery resembles the style of Grueby but were much more affordable as they were mold made pieces as opposed to hand thrown.
This will make a wonderful addition to any Matte Green collection of Art Pottery and would look great on that Stickley Mission Arts and Crafts Bookcase. « Less

For sale I have a very nice piece of Art Pottery made by Marblehead Pottery of Marblehead, Mass. This Piece of Art Pottery Shape is called a "Wall Pocket" Vase. The Vase has somewhat a Flat back and has a round triangular shape. It stands 4 3/8" tall and is 5" wide and is 4 3/8" deep.
The Vase displays a Rich Matte Speckled Gray Glaze that is not as commonly found as the Blue. I believe that the speckling is caused by the Red Clay peeking through the Matte Gray outer Glaze. This glaze is also called "Monochrome" by the Marblehead Collector community. The inside of the Vase has a beautiful Robins Egg Blue waterproofing high Gloss interior Glaze. When you hold this Vase in your Hands you can feel the Quality and Strength of the piece.
The Vase is considered to be excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is a Glaze separation on the back inside wall of the pocket. This is Factory and is considered insignificant. The Vase is not signed as is the case with these. They were signed with a Paper Label that simply fell off over time. Wall Pockets from Marblehead Pottery are some of the Hardest to Find. I don't believe they made many of these. In my 37+ years as a dealer I have only seen this form a few times.
Those of you who collect Marblehead Pottery and want a an excellent example do not let this one Pass you by. In my research I noticed very few of this form in this size could be found. This leads me to believe that this size and form is somewhat Rare. This would look just outstanding in or on that Stickley, Mission Style Arts and Crafts Bookcase.
This Wall Pockets books for $600-$700. This piece was made Circa 1904-1915
Marblehead Pottery was established in 1904 by Dr. Herbert J. Hall as a Studio Art Pottery in Marblehead, Massachusetts using the art and technique of ceramics manufacturing and decorating as a rehabilitation and therapeutic aid to local sanitarium patients at Hall's Devereux Mansion Sanitarium. Marblehead Pottery stopped producing Art Pottery in 1936. Marblehead Pottery was a small Pottery Company never employing more than 6 workers. Their Pottery is considered somewhat scare as compared to their Contemporaries of the day. « Less
