Coalport was home to an important pottery founded in 1795 by John Rose. It produced Coalport China which became popular worldwide. The building it was initially produced in is now a Youth Hostel and cafe. Production later moved across the canal to the buildings which are now the Coalport China Museum. Production moved to Staffordshire in 1926, and Coalport China is now part of the world famous Wedgwood group of pottery companies. This lovely “Demitasse Cup & Saucer” measures 4.50 inches diameter and the matching cup is 2.75 tall and 2.50 inches diameter inches tall. The set is in good condition.   « Less

Nymphenburg-Bustelli — Warrior Cherub — Putti first modeled by Franz Anton Bustelli were probably originally created to decorate the table in the “Stone Hall” at Schloss Nymphenburg. The hall’s ceiling painting shows the nymph Flora surrounded by important gods as befit her standing, e.g. Mercury, Jupiter and Juno. Bustelli’s children, clothed as Ovidian gods, may be regarded as allegorical references to them. Dressed only in loincloths, the children’s playful almost careless handling of the insignias of power transforms the idea of divine omnipotence into a figurative representation full of lightness and humor. Nymphenburg — “Warrior Cherub” measures 4.50 inches and are in mint condition. This is an impressive piece of work bearing the Nymphenburg mark impresses into at the base with the numbers 347 over the Number 3. The details in the porcelain show fine artistry.   « Less
