Very rare Georgian earrings - 18k gold, Burma rubies and turquoise. Made circa 1760. Measurements and sizes: 1 inch long. Weigh 2.6 grams. Exceptional, alternating natural turquoise and natural Burmese ruby earrings, ending in cruciform / cross forms that swing from the upper support. Hooks in gold are easy to put through ears and comfortable to wear. The contrast between the colours is totally striking - the blue jumping out from the bright pink, which flashes beautifully as the light catches the gems. Increasingly rare to find earrings of this age in such great condition with such a striking attractive appearance. Like all jewellery of this age, no hallmarks. Very good condition. ntique Georgian or very early Victorian ring. Tourmaline and two diamonds set in gold and silver. Made early 19th century. Measurements and sizes: US size 8 - will fit a large finger (or could be resized for a smaller one). The tourmaline was GIA assessed at 2.5ct and the S11 rose cut diamonds at 1carat. Weighs 7.1grams. Most of the setting is gold, which tests for at least 22k. Gold alternates with layers of silver. Both gold and silver are decorated with exquisite fine chasing. The gold surrounds and encloses the stones in late Georgian style colette settings. Raised above the level of the rest of the ring, a rectangular, deep green, faceted tourmaline. The colour ranges from deepest dark to emerald, depending on how the light catches it. It has a totally regal appearance. It is surrounded on either side, lower in height, by a pair of rose cut diamonds, at least a carat in size (together). The diamonds are supported by branched bands of gold. THe workmanship of this ring is great and the overall effect is awesome: few rings will command the attention that this beauty does. A definate personal favourate. The ring, like most antique jewellery, is unmarked, but the gold tested for at least 22k. Very good, original condition. Antique, Edwardian ring. Platinum set with a cushion cut Mexican fire opal, surrounded by a ring of diamonds. Made during the first decade of the 20th century - 1900 - 1910. Measurements and sizes: Just under a US size 7. Weighs 2.3grams. Just under a half carat of diamonds. Exquisitely made ring: a flower formed by a ring of diamonds - European cut, S11 in a filigree platinum setting. The diamonds enclose a marvellous cushion cut fire opal of an amazing shade of orange. This ring was my personal favourate for many years and taught me to truly appreciate the colour orange. This stone is a good indication of why the fire opal is the national stone of Mexico. Workmanship is fabulous - from the tight setting of the diamonds, to the creamy cutting of the opal and the openwork supporting ''scales'' at the back. Hallmarked PLAT 100. Good condition. y-smoothe, flexible and sturdy chain. Since the links face all directions around the tube, they catch and play with the light in an understated display of the gold''s brilliance. We had the simple clasp added to the chain in order to facilitate putting it on. The side loops were already there, so the chain''s integrity was not compromised in any way. The slide in repousse gold in Rococo foliate form with exquisite detail. Can be brought up to sit at the nape of the neck, or lower down, closer to the rest of the enhancements. The chain terminates in the original watch fob, a cuffed hand. According to the book, Understanding Jewellery by Bennett and Mascetti (page 130), Gold hand clasps were popular between 1830-1840. This is not a true clasp as it does not open, but it is very beautifully done with super detail and extraordinarilly, the part directly above the cuff is linked to a repousse foliate section (matching the slide in theme), via very finely made hinges. This results in greater movement. The hand is joined to a series of bars, links and loops, presumably for hanging more enhancers. The whole terminates in a triple chain with tassles. The ''housing'' of the tassles in two-coloured gold, with raised foliate decoration and a line of black enamel (with a minute fleck missing as seen under a magnifying glass). A very full fringe of bead-tipped tassles. I believe the tassles may be a later addition. There are a number of eagle-head hallmarks, as can be clearly seen in the ''photos. Good condition. eting a skullcap crown and then repeated in his very full beard. The butterfly gentleman is more Assyrian in appearance, with long locks and a more carefully trimmed beard. Both men are shown in profile. Both are in very good condition. The bottom two cameos are carved from other hardstones. One, in a buttery agate-looking stone with a soft brown background carved away from the whiter upper area, depicts a beautiful Classical woman, probably Greek if one were to guess from her features and the diaphenous robe partially shown, that reveals a bare shoulder. She has a complex band in her hair with gentle curles escaping to frame her face and at the nape of her neck. Great carving with super detail, if in need of a gentle cleaning. The last was saved for best: this is known as a gryllus - it is a single cameo that depicts no less than 4 heads, both human and bestial, metamorphosizing into and from each other, in profile, under a seashell. The carving is exquisite and brilliant, using at least 3 layers of the onyx. It depicts one woman, one sheep and two men. They are carved in white above a black background and above them all is a dark brown, shiny shell or other creature that partially overlaps itself. This incredible piece is extremely rare and the workmanship of the most superior quality. The general condition of the earrings is very good. Parts could do with a cleaning if the new owner so desired and one could hang something from the little loops underneath the center of the top cameos. No damage. Antique Georgian earrings. Gold, enamel and diamonds. Very tiny - probably for a baby or small child. Made circa 1795-1810. Length, not including the earwires is 11mm (under 1/2 inch). Diamond drops are approx 2mm long. Together weigh 1gram. The Classic look of this tiny pair of earrings is very much in line with the style of Josephine and Napoleon Bonaparte''s court. A round disk, white enamal border, deep blue ground with a golden daisy-like flower with a white enamel center. The disk suspends a pear-shaped rose-cut diamond, collet-set with the back fully enclosed. The way the gold is ''pulled'' up around the diamond indicates a very early date. While there are no hallmarks, the disks test for 18k gold. Good condition with natural negligible signs of age such as minor crazing to some parts of enamel and replaced earwires. Antique Victorian earrings. Like most Victorian jewellery, gems set in silver on gold. Circa 1860-80. Approximately 1 3/4 inches long. Weigh 7.8grams together. Ear studds replace the original earwires. They are connected by loops to an oval support on which a bird, with partially open wings perches above a moving branch with foliage and golden berries. Another gold ''berry'' (a gold bead) swings from the bottom. The bird is pave set with turquoise and pearls and has one red eye, which is probably a tiny ruby (too small for me to test). The gold is variously textured with very fine detail to the foliage. The earrings are very well made and quite exquisite. Very comfortable to wear and best of all, match every outfit. Guarranteed to get a lot of compliments every time you wear them. No marks on the gold, tested for 9 carats. Very good condition. Antique French diamond and onyx brooch / pendant set in 14 & 18 carat gold and silver. Made in Paris, circa 1880. Measurements: total length approx 2 1/4 inches. Diameter of onyx is a little over 1 inch (27mm). Total weight 18.4grams. Diamonds as follows: Center: Cushion-cut 50pts; Rose-cuts: 2X19 (in bow) 38pts; Tiny circle: 12 half 6pts; Outer circle: 12 (1 1/2) 18pts; Petals: 2 dia. each = 2pc 72pts; Cushion-cuts:(hanging) 5pc ea 10pts 50pts; Single - large 18pts; TOTAL: approx 252 pts. Like most Victorian jewellery, the stones are largely set in silver with a gold mount for the onyx and all parts that came into contact with clothes / body. 3 sections comprise this marvellous old French jewel. The top is a bow, possibly the favourate theme of the 19th century. It is attached to the largest, middle section in such a way that there is a certain amount of movement between them. The round middle section, radiating gold petals supporting an onyx dial on which is a very luscious setting of diamonds of various sizes and cuts, as per list above. The onyx is free to revolve a full 360 degrees. Wonderfully fine setting of the stones at different heights, the diamonds tightly set in a beautiful floral design. Luxurious and rich in every aspect. Like much late Victorian jewellery of this era, the piece is ''finished'' with a fringe of diamonds, en pampille, ending in gold globes. Secure pin. Good condition. Antique French pendant necklace. Made of 18k gold, pink tourmaline and pearls. Made during the Victorian era, circa 1885-1895, in Paris. Measurements: tourmaline 25 carats; pearls 3mm; Lenght of pendant 1 5/8 inches including the loop; 1 3/8 inches long excluding the loop. Chain is 16 inches long. Total weight: 5.8 grams. Finely hand-made pendant with rose theme. Comes with a later American 14k gold chain. The central element of the pendant is a large, cabochon natural tourmaline with a wonderful rose pink colour, in shadow or glowing bright, depending on how the light falls on it. This is set in an openwork setting that gives the appearance of the gem-stone floating. The triple gold frame has 4 roses, in full bloom and partially opening, one at each of the cardinal points. The roses are clearly handmade in full relief and very realistic and delicate. Alternating with the roses is delicate foliage, set with 4 pearls. The fabulous quality can be seen, not only from the workmanship on the front, but the back, which is delicate and beautifully finished. The loops is sturdy and clearly original to the pendant as it has raised foliate decoation. Hallmarks: the pendant has the Paris, France eagle hallmark showing, indicating 18k gold. The maker''s mark is not entirely clear / known. The chain has a 14k hallmark. Condition: very good. Antique earrings. 14carat gold and amethyst. Made circa 1820-30''s. Measure a tad under 2inches long, not including the earwires. Weigh 10.2grams. Beautiful earrings utilising the natural contrast between gold and amethyst to show off the stones very prettily. Earrings are in the form of a branch of Wisteria or a bunch of grapes with their foliage. The surmount is a simple round gemstone that suspendsa trio of golden leaves and a pair of flowers/grapes. There are 5 similar sections, decreasing in size towards the bottom. Gold leaves have engraved detail. Amethysts are collet-set with closed backs, indicating their early date. Collets with small incised pattern and golden bead at their points. Each section is joined via links to the next, resulting in a great amount of flexibility and movement between them - very sensuous and luxurious in feel and movement. The workmanship is excellent - see ''photos of the backs - indicating a true high-class pair of earrings that has lasted 200 years and will still be an absolute pleasure to wear. Very good condition.
