We have for sale a 1960's maple writing desk. The desk has a green leather top writing area. The leather has a couple damage are. There is an area to put books or pretties on top of the shelfs. There is a drawer with dove tail joints for paper and pens. The wood is in great condition. It is attractive and does not take up a lot of room. It stands 50 ¼ inches tall by 32 ¼ inches long by 19 ¼ inches wide and weighs 35 pounds. This can be shipped by UPS Freight Lines and Greyhound providing there is a local terminal near you.We do have more photographs that we can email if you are interested. Pierre Paulin born in 1927 started to collaborate with Thonet France in 1954, when he design the CM 141 desk with black lacquered tubular steel frame, a black melamined writing surface and block of two drawers in ash veneer. This functional, minimalist desk is a direct descendant of the Bauhaus movement. Very good condition. Design Period, Circa: 1960. This is an elegantly simple desk made from solid and nicely patinaed cherry by the first quarter of the 20th century. This lovely piece is topped by a serpentine shaped yellowish leather top trimmed by gilt borders and honoring the serpentine shape of the top, which can be extended thanks to matching pull out leaves. The façade is simple and provides a 3-drawer frieze mounted with acanthus shaped handles and escutcheon. The pediment consists of boldly sculpted cabriole legs providing sturdiness. Note that leather is not original and estimated to be 10-20 years old. It is in used but still good condition. Circa date 1920. Dimensions 30”high/ 54”long/ 82”long with leaves out/ 30”deep. This rare Victorian walnut cylinder desk c1885 belonged to Connecticut Governor Henry Roberts B 1853 D 1929. Roberts became alderman of Hartford, Connecticut in 1897. He became a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives in 1899. He held that position till 1901. He also was a member of the Connecticut State Senate from 1901 to 1902. He became lieutenant governor of Connecticut in 1903. He held that position till 1905. He became the 44th Governor of Connecticut on January 4, 1905. Provenance supplied to buyer.This desk measures 36 inches wide, 76 inches to top of back, 30 inches to the writing surface and 22.5 inches deep. All original including finish. Even the felt writing surface that retains its surface marks and stains from the Governors constant use is orignial. This desk has the best interior we ever seen in a cylinder desk from this period. It has birdseye maple drawer fronts surrounded by rosewood with rosewood drawer knobs. Fine hand cut dovetailed drawers and frame joints. This stunning piece of American Victorian furniture was with out a doubt a special order, made by one of the important New York cabinet makers on Broad Street.
