Description: This is a lovely set of twelve French Country oak spindleback chairs with rush seats. They came from the Northern area of France. The chairs have a design which comes from a spindle shape on the back rest to the seat. The legs are gracefully curved with turned feet. They have stretchers from the front to the back. The color is a rich dark brown oak with a warm patina. They were recently polished and waxed in our workshops and are ready to go into your home. The rush seats are shaped and the backs are slightly slanted, making the chairs very comfortable. They are very solid and sound. There are ten straight chairs and two armchairs. You can just imagine them in the great hall of a castle - or perhaps in your own kitchen! The set consists of two arm chairs and six side chairs. The large backs give them that classic Tudor look, Gothic minus the angulated spires, perfect for creating that cosy, farmhouse rustic look that is so popular. The chairs have been hand crafted from oak and are solid and sturdy, wobble free and very comfortable to sit in. The seats are large - you could add cushions to match your interior scheme, these look great with those hand woven Elizabethan style ones. The great things about these chairs is they can be used for formal dining as well as every day kitchen use. The finish to the oak is superb - all the grains and whorls to the wood have come out a treat. These really are a knock out set. These are the traditional and much loved Windsor chair design featuring the crinoline stretcher, hand turned legs, back splat with hand carved Prince of Wales feathers and the saddle shaped seats. They are very comfortable and solid and these are perfect for that rustic cosy farmhouse look. These were made by craftsman at High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire where they have been made using the same materials and skills for centuries. They are a design classic and perhaps - in our humble opinion - one of the best style of chairs ever made. They are flexible in that they look equally at home around a dining table as they do in the kitchen. As the name implies each chair has the three ladder back splats which are very comfortable to sit on. The unusual thing about this set are the wooden seats as normally these are hand woven - it's great as you can use your own cushions on these to really incorporate it into your interiors scheme. The oak has a lovely dark grain to it and the swirls to the wood have really come out a treat. The chairs are also very solid and sturdy to sit on with no lose joints, as well as being very comfortable. They look great in the kitchen or dining room. The chairs have straight legs (unlike the normal ball and claw feet on the more formal Chippendales). The backsplat is hand carved and features the typical Chippendale motif. These are solid and sturdy, no wobbles to the join and ready for home use right away. They are very comfortable to sit in. The seats have been reupholstered and hence are free from any previous owners smells such as pets and smoke. The seat covers are a lovely white fabric calico.
