Authentic antique Chinese Kingfisher feather, silver and gilt silver hair jewelry ornament, set with hardstone / amber. Well over 100 years old. Measures 6 inches long Beautifully crafted hair ornament made of silver and gold washed silver and then set with the vibrant turquoise feathers of the Chinese kingfisher bird. A beautiful arrangement of flowers - peonies, irises, set with hardstone/amber (we do not know what it is, but it glistens beautifully in the light). The back with it''s gold washed surface is almost more beautiful than the front. Condition is very good considering the delicacy of this item. There are naturally some losses to the feather, but less than one would expect, and two small stones are missing. The craze for kingfisher jewellery and hair ornaments is supposed to have threatened these little birds almost to extinction during the 19th century. Authentic antique Chinese Kingfisher feather, hardstone/amber, pearls, silver and gilt silver en tremblant hair jewelry ornament. Well over 100 years old. Measures 5 inches long. Beautifully crafted hair ornament made of silver and gold washed silver and then set with the vibrant turquoise feathers of the Chinese kingfisher bird and highlighted with red stones (hardstones or amber or Peking glass) and pearls. A wonderful floral arrangement, including papyrus flowers, iris, waterlilies are arranged in a Chinese urn/vase, set with a large oval red stone. (looks like amber, but we are not sure). A pair of twisted gold washed bars support a dragonfly, perched en tremblant with long feelers ending in pearls that quiver and shake as the wearer moves (or even in the slightest breeze). The dragonfly perches on little wires, so it is in a different plane to the rest of the piece, making it a fully 3-dimentional item. Another flower set with a stone above this. The ornament ends with 3 small flowers, each with a gilded center and finally, the little spoon-like terminal, not used for scooping up snuff, but for cleaning the ears. The beautiful workmanship can be seen also at the back, which glows gently from the antique gold. Condition is very good considering the delicacy of this item. Antique Opal and mine cut diamonds set in gold ring. We think this is Edwardian , but it could date to the Art Nouveau or Deco period. Size 5 3/4 (for a thin finger). Beautifully set ring, the superior workmanship and choice of stones typical of the Edwardian super fine quality. Elegant, long thin ring with a gorgeously coloured opal in the center. The colour is blue-green, not very dark, but with fabulous light and fire within. Changes colour and seems to iridesce or light up with every movement. Surrounded by a border of old mine cut diamonds. Set in gold (we believe to be 18K, but certainly at least 14K). No hallmarks to be seen as is typical of antique jewellery. Very good condition. Between the ''leaves'' is a diamond supsended from a pearl, like a flower. Beautiful workmanship and quality - see backs and details of screws. Antique crescent moon and heart brooch / pin made of turquoise and diamonds set in 18 carat gold. Most likely English. Dates to the Victorian - Edwardian period. Measures 2 1/8 inches long. Gold crescent slither of a moon with tiny raised jewels in gold at either end. Set with gradated cabochon turquoise gems. A heart, entirely made of diamonds is ''looped'' around the moon. Clearly a marvellous romantic gift in a chivalrous age. The back has engraved hallmark 18CT. The piece is entirely original with no damage or restoration. Great condition. Paul Briancon tie pin ''Fleur'' weighs approx 1.2g and is 2 1/2 - 2 3/4 inch long. Formed in a flower shape with a pearl set in it''s center. We found no signature, but this is guarranteed to be the work of Paul Briancon, who was Rene Lalique''s forman for about 20 years. The item was part of an auction in Paris, in December 2006, which included a number of his pieces. (Catalogue number can be provided). There is one tiny kink in the long part of the pin, which may be a restoration, but otherwise condition is good. Pair of earrings in opals and white saphires. Gold screw-on setting. Made late 19th - early 20th century. Diameter is approx 1/4 inch. Flower-form earring. Center has a round, cushion-like (not quite cabochon) fiery opal that catches and plays with the light beautifully. It is surrounded by a ring of white saphires - also great play of light. The earrings are set in a wonderful old gold (unmarked, as is most Victorian jewelry) mounts. Beautiful openwork backs and the little dials to screw the earring closed are in the form of a flower.
