Antique memorial snuff box. Pique - shell and horn inlaid with silver and gold. Made 19th century. Measures just over 2 1/4 inches in diameter. 1 1/8 inches high. Round box, made largely of shell, with a band of horn near the top of the side. The top is set with a handpainted memorial scene - a church / castle with trees in the background, a memorial or gravestone leaning over under the tallest tree. Unusually, there is a goat with a herder in the forefront. The memorial plaque is set in a raised silver frame with herringbone pattern. Surrounding the central plaque is a ring of urns and swags intersperced with star-shaped flowers. All inlaid in gold and silver with engraved highlights. THe urns echo the memorial theme. Antique pin cushion and match strike in the form of an old shoe / boot with a puppy dog and cat. Made 19th century - possibly 1880 - 1910. Measures 3 3/4 in length and approx 2 inches high. Made of silver plate / silver coloured metal. Original old velvet fabric forms the cushion. On one side is a series of ridges, which form the match strike. The pin cushion is formed in the shape of an old shoe or half boot with a puppy dog - looks like a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - trying to climb up the back and a kitten peeping out of a hole in the front of the shoe. Great detail - see even the nails underneath the boot. The pin cushion / match strike is in good, original condition. Some of the plating has worn underneath, but this seems to add to the old shoe look. no dings/dents/damage of any sort. An openwork reticulated silver and glass heart shaped dish. Made in Germany late 19th - very early 20th century (pre World War II). Jugendstil / German Art Nouveau, highly reminiscent of the work of Joseph Hoffman at the Wiener Werkstatte. Measures just under 1 1/4 inches high; 6 1/2 inches accross widest part and 7 inches front to back. Handle is 2 inches high. Stands on 4 ball feet. Bottom of sides is solid silver, from half way up, reticulated open pattern of flowers - great detail and workmanship. A larger version of the flowers forms a handle / thumbpiece. Frosted heart-shaped glass insert. Engraved signature and silver marks underneath: Crown and crescent moon for Imperial German silver, 800 German silver standard and a hallmark for the maker. Antique fan with hand painted Spanish woman in traditional national costume, artist signed. From a collection of antique and vintage fans, this is believed to date to the first half of the 20th century, possibly a little earlier. Sticks are made of simple wood except for the guards, which are ivory and measure just under 8 1/2 inches long. The right hand guard is decorated in polychrome color and engraved flowers and scrolls. The flowers and scrolls are echoed in paint on the sides of the fan. In the center is a wonderful painting of a Spanish woman in national costume, holding a fan in one hand. The details are fabulous, from her extraordinarilly high hair style, covered in a lace mantilla, to the rose in fan and breast, the little shoes and of course, the fan itself in her hand. The painting is artist signed on the right. Sticks and guards are in good condition. The fan itself, made of very delicate silk, does have condition problems, especially along the right hand guard and some of the other pleats. Fortunately, none of the splitting is on the painted woman, so the fan is definately worth restoring. Gilt silver plique a jour and cloisonne enamel oyster / hors d''oeuvre cocktail set cased in original fitted box, made by Marius Hammer, Bergen, Norway late 19th - early 20th century. MINT. Forks are approx 4 1/4 inches long. Serving spoon is 5 1/8 inch long. Set consists of 6 2-pronged forks, each with a different floral arrangement in plique a jour cloisonne and a central serving spoon, (a little like a caddy spoon, but substantially larger), made of exquisite plique a jour and cloisonne enamel. The silver is gilded, as can be see in the ''photos and the handles are twisted, the server being bigger, wider and more substantial than ther forks. The colours of the enamel are stunning and range from yellow through greens and blues to red. Beautiful unique tiny floral depictions - each a work of art. The serving spoon is quite outstanding, combining the plique a jour and cloisonne enamel technique in the bowl and with beautiful enamelling on the end of the twisted and scrolling handle. Each piece has impressed 900 silver hallmark, MH and Marius Hammer logo. Condition is excellent, especially considering the age and delicacy of the items. Comes in original fitted box. The bottom is lined with velvet and the inside of the lid in silk with gold lettering M. HAMMER JUVELEER BERGEN (M Hammer, Jeweller, Bergen). Antique Nippon moriage vase with handpainted flowers and applied turquoise jewels. Measures approx 6 1/4 inches high. Full, round body with 4 cartouche reserves, each beautifully handpainted with a boquet of flowers. A pair of handles on either side of the vase. Richly enamelled around the floral reserves and the ground entirely covered with small pale green and larger turquoise jewels. The latter exactly like Coalport jeweled porcelain. Rich enamelling on the neck and base. No marks to be seen. Excellent condtion - no chips/cracks/damage/repairs. French 950 silver mustard pot, moutardier, with cobalt blue glass bowl. Made between 1803 - 1837 (before Minerve mark).5 1/2inches high. Approx 4 3/4inches accross handles. Weight of silver alone is 5oz.Urn shaped cobalt blue glass enclosed in a silver mount with hinged lid and pair of scrolling acanthus leaf decorated handles. Base of urn rests on a square platform with 4 acanthus leaf repousse shaped feet. Beautiful gadrooning and foliate patterning around base and on lid, which ends in a bud flower finial. Flowers in center of scrolls of handles. French silver of the best quality, quite beautiful. Delicate monogram on lid, TGC. Hallmark inside lid is of the ''Old Man'', introduced as Paris mark for .950 silver in 1819. Outside of lid has an earlier mark, of a woman in profile facing left, also for Paris, see Tardy top of page 191. Base similarly marked.Excellent condition. French cut crystal and 950 standard silver cruet set. Made France after 1838.Boat shaped silver cruet stand is a little over 9 inches long. It weighs 7.3oz.Quietly elegant, great quality silver. Edges with leaf and dart pattern. Cut crystal bottles similarly understated with beautifully cut sides and neck and folding curved, double lips. Bottles custom made to fit the silver containers. Stoppers with many cut facets have silver holding rings to rest on when pouring from the bottles.Silver is hallmarked on each of the bottle holders as well as underneath, where there is also a lozenge shaped maker''s mark. Silver is in excellent condition. No dings/dents. Bottles, marked with engraved numbers, in very good shape with one small shallow chip on bottom of one, hidden in the silver holder.
