Antique set of 6 Chinese ceramic plates. Made in China 18th century during the Qianlong dynasty, 1736 - 1795. Measurements:Plates are a little over 8 1/2 inches accross and 8 5/8 inches top to bottom. Plates are 6-sided with little nipped waists between each side. White ground with a slightly greenish/celadon tinge. The sloping sides have borders of blue and white flowers. An iron red arrowhead pattern surrounds the bowl and goes partially up the shoulders. Within is a Mandarin scene containing beautiful Chinese landscapes with cliffs, overhanging pine trees, water, pagodas in the background and a central boat with people on them One man extends his arms, another stands at the back. No two plates are entirely identical. The crane/heron that flies overhead is also different in each plate. Brightly coloured enamel flowers provide unusual additional interest. There are no signatures or marks on the plates, which makes them correct for the period. Condition is very good. THere is minor fritting and one or two spots where glaze did not take, original to the manufacture, but no chips/cracks/damage/restoration. Pair of Coalport moulded and handpainted dessert plates circa 1825, England. Each plate measures approx 9 1/4inch. Scalloped rims with beige borders moulded with raised gold and white floral and scrolling patterns interspersed with handpainted spriggs of flowers. The centers of each plate are handpainted with flowers and fruit - one has a peach and one a pear, both have roses, anemones, chrysanthemums etc , all masterfully depicted. One has an impressed mark (6 or 9) underneath. Condition is good, especially considering the age. There is crazing, more visible under the peach plate with superficial cracks in the glaze (see last ''photo). We only found these on the back of the peach plate. Gilding in good shape except on some moulded pleats, mainly of pear plate. *** We believe these plates were sold by Sothebys to a Palm Beach Collector in their New York, October 21 2000 sale. 6 handpainted enameled porcelain plates made 19th century England by Coalport for Tiffany New York.Each plate measures 8 3/4inches in diameter. The white bowls are richly handpainted with boquets of flowers - each plate is different and between them, we see the floral spectrum of a beautiful English garden. Coalport was considered to have the finest porcelain painters in the 19th century and this is a good example of their beautiful work.Sides of plates: Concentric enameled bands separated by gold borders. Red and cobalt patterning on the yellow central band. Green flowers with red centers alternating on the creamy ground with delicate gold patterns inbetween.The backs of each plate are marked with the Coalport Crown Coalport A.D 1750 and England in green and the purple Tiffany & Co. New York below that. Each plate also has a handpainted gold number 8867/A and impressed numbers. (see ''photos).Condition is MINT. We did not find a single fault on any of the plates. A pair of Worcester part transfer, mostly hand painted plates, C1868, depicting flowers on a white ground. Each plate is 9 1/2inchses in diam. A turquoise border surrounded by gold. White ground is handpainted with sprigs of red, white and pink flowers and leaves in shades of green. Impressed Worcester marks underneath - very difficult to photograph.
