a collection of 4 Original sketches by Rob Bell, dated October 1931. These four drawings were acquired via an estate sale in Iowa. They are framed and sealed in the back of the frames. With the frames they measure 13" x 15". All but the portrait of the woman are signed. Based on the signatures they were created in October 1931.
This is a beautiful collection of sketches by a relatively unknown artist. However, the detail and decor of the sketches are simply amazing. As for condition, they are in excellent condition given their age. The portrait of the clown does have a tear through the top half of the paper that is not easily seen, though since it has been framed no further damage can be done.
This is an amazing collection and I truly hope that it finds a good home. « Less

Another dear picture I have this frame hanging as a pair with the Joshua Reynolds painting. This is called the Boy and Rabbit by Henry Raeburn the original was done in 1756, this is an excellent "after" which appears to be in water colors on paper. It is in the original Victorian gesso frame which is an outstanding example of victorian framing from the late 1800's and original glass as it depicts small bubbles and dents. This item was purchased from Marshall Fields and Co. in Chicago around the 1895 era. It has some water damage on the matting which does not destroy the value or ambiance of the picture as it depicts its age. « Less

One of my favorites, Age of Innocence was painted in 1788 by Joshua Reynolds, this is an excellent "after" painting which looks exactly like an original in what appears to be water colors produced on paper. It has a wonderful gesso gold frame from the Victorian age late 1800's. It still has it's original glass which has small bubbles and dents and a small paper plate from Marshall Fields on the back. It has age related water spots on the matting which does not hurt the value or the ambiance of the picture. The picture is in excellent condition, no spots or stains. « Less

Approximately 1926 the Spinks family from Indianapolis built the Spink Wawasee Hotel on the site of the Cedar Beach Club and the Wawasee Inn. It was a great hotel for the lake and at that time they were allowed to gamble in the hotel. Wawasee is a sandy bottomed lake and the beaches are wonderful for swimming, as well as for fishing. Following the death of the Spink family the Spink Wawasee was sold to the Croster Order of the Roman Catholic Church in 1948 and after extensive remodeling was opened as Our Lady of the Lake Seminary with an enrollment of 118 students. This is a beautiful site on Wawasee Lake and stands out to be seen in most areas of the lake as a guide to where you are in a boat. Ken Harkless drew these pictures as a remembrance of the Wawasee Lake in the early years and are suitable for framing « Less

This is a charcoal schetch by Ken Harkless of the Wawasee-Waco Dance Hall. It was complete in 1923 and to meet the requirements of the parking space th road was moved back and sand was pumped from the lake for fill. In the 1930's great bands of the era were booked including Wayne King, Glenn Miller, Guy Lambardo, Cab Calloway, Tony Bennett. Waco became famous nationally. If you would sit on the other side of Wawasee you could hear the music as if you right at Waco itself. This will always be remembered as a great place for the Wawasee summer people, as well as the locals. These prints are on a great grade of manilla paper suitable for framing. « Less
