Exquisite antique painting on porcelain plaque signed Delphine de Cool and dated 1872. The plaque depicts Venus floating on the waves above her are 5 flying cherubs. The quality and composition of this unique painting on porcelain plaque is the best one might ever hope to find in a lifetime of searching. The condition is perfect as if it had been in a time capsule for 138 years. Delphine Arnould de Cool was born in Limoges France and studied under her father. She married the painter and sculptor Arnould . She won a gold medal at the Expositions Universelles in 1878. She won a medal at the Paris Exposition in 1889. A huge event in her life and one of the very few women artists to be honored exhibiting at the Paris Exposition of 1889. The Paris Exposition of 1889 included some of the finest art, paintings, and sculptures created in the history of the world. Just to be invited to exhibit was an honor. To win a medal was one of the highest awards of the 19th century. This painting on porcelain plaque signed and dated in the lower left is the finest porcelain plaque I have ever had the pleasure to own or offer for sale. The closer you get to look at this the better the detail. Delphine de Cool is a very important French listed artist born in Limoges, France in 1830. Limoges a center in France for artists to gather in the 19th and early 20th century to paint paintings on porcelan plaques. The finest French porcelain plaques were made in Limoges France in the 19th century. The plaques were purchased by artists wanting to paint on a permanent porcelain plaque. Oil paintings on canvis if not cared for conserved or preserved can deteriorate under certain atmospheric conditions. This unique painting on porcelain plaque painted and signed by her in 1872 is an extraordinary example of the finest quality painting on porcelain plaques in existence today. Exquisite antique artist monogrammed RP enamel plaque depicting a beautiful nude lady with gold highlighted flowers holding a scale weighing Cupid. This is basically a black and white composition with gold highlights. Many of the early 19th century to mid 19th century enamels were done in black and white with gold highlights. This is an exquisite enamel from early 19th century, a scene from the Education of Cupid. In this image a beautiful semi nude nymph is looking at Cupid and weighing his deeds. The composition is symbolic of the mythological story form the Education of Cupid. The enamel is in excellent condition. It is set in a gilt metal frame. It can be hung on a wall or placed in a display cabinet or on an easel back Lucite stand. Exquisite antique French enamel painting depicting a beautiful lady examining her jewels from her jewelry box being held up for her inspection by an attending cherub. At her feet another cherub is pouring liquid from a large, gold jar into her bath. There is a griffin handled ewer and tray by the ladies feet. The painting is signed Th. Soyer. Theophile Soyer is listed as an important enamel painter who did historic subjects. He was born near Paris in the early 19th century. He exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1870. Enamels painted by Soyer are considered the finest quality 19th century enamels, the one we are offering may be one of his finest known works. The enamel measures 9-1/2 inches high by 6-1/4 inches wide. Framed size 17 inches high by 13-3/4 inches wide. The enamel is in magnificent condition, perhaps the finest condition obtainable today. The figure holding the jewelry is very beautiful. She is highlighted with a gold headdress and waistband. Her jewelry box is silver and gold.
