The finest superlative Master mitered joinery is demonstrated throughout this exceptional piece. The engineered joinery represents the most elaborate development of the miter, mortise and tenon ever developed anywhere, including through-tenon, three way mitered joints, and feathered tenon joints; requiring extreme precision many patient skilled hours of execution. The superior artisanship can be seen not only in the finely carved nature motif (including lilies - symbolic of the cleansing and healing love energy in Chinese culture) door and drawer faces but in areas you would not expect. The entire piece is composed of the highest quality solid dense rosewood, even in the secondary wood pieces such as the drawer sides, chamfered bottoms and the back, which are also hand carved. In 1971 she came to America with my brother bringing the Hutch along with other antiques with her. Not much is known about the history. The Hutch is in very good condition with the exceptions of one of the upper cabinet doors has broken pane of glass that needs replacing.
