Costume pearls, double strand of graduated imitation pearls, which have, rather surprisingly, a 9ct gold clasp with a full British hallmark for Birmingham 1966. (The photo doesn't show the gold in the best light - it needs a slight clean). Maker's mark is Ciro (Ciro are an old-established costume jewellery company in London). The pearls are in extremely good condition with no peeling or yellowing. Total length is 40 cm for the shortest strand. Beads are graduated from 5 mm to 8.5 mm diameter.   « Less

Gentleman's gilt, double key wound, repeating (quarter-repeater) skeletonized open face gold pocket watch, Unsigned, Swiss origin, circa 1820. A 60 mm diameter gilt steel open face pocket watch with a white porcelain 'ring' dial with Breguet hours, open minutes and steel Breguet style hands. The open dial center exposes the repeating and striking work. This pocket watch imitates the action of a striking clock yet remains very much a repeating watch. In repeaters one depresses the long the long necked pendant which tenses a spring, and when that pressure is relieved the power of the spring is activated. The time is then noted when struck on the spiral gongs. In clock watches the time is struck at each quarter hour noting the hour as well as the quarters. As noted in the dial center there are two mainsprings which are required to be wound daily by key to obtain a full days time and striking action. The movement is most likely either a verge or cylinder escapement with triple spoked brass balance and flat balance spring, likely fusee driven(not seen), and has delicately spoked ornate gilt wheels and spiral gongs while on the back plate the work is much less polished with steel cut levers and teeth and mono-metallic balance wheel. there appears to be no signature on the case or movement plates. Condition: this watch is functional.   « Less

Amber lump mounted in a pretty filigree frame of gilded silver. Intricate pattern to the filigree of the mount and bale. Stamped on the rear of the bale "silver". The amber has inclusions, possibly an insect. Measures 35.5 mm by 25.5 mm not including the filigree bale (1.3/8 inches by 1 inch). Rear has a little flattening to the mount (very, very minor), but overall in excellent condition. Probably late Victorian - late 1800s.   « Less

Modern brooch, very stylish. Slightly domed rectangle in 925 silver with crenulated edge and a central motif depicting an Incan god (?) holding a bird baton in one hand and a squared baton in the other. Brooch is stamped 925 and Peru (it looks like perj, but this is just an imperfect impression that has left out the other arm of the "U"). Brooch measures 4 cm by 5 cm. Excellent condition. Late 20th century. Would look wonderful worn on a dark fabric.   « Less

Little locket with suspension ring - Australian colonial silver, it is stamped on the rear with the words "Sterling Silver" and three boxes, containing an M, an Emu, and a Maltese style cross. The locket may have started out as a dance compact, as it has the front hinging lid and appearance of one of these little compacts. Inside a photo of a man is loosely glued, and there is no mirror in the lid, although some mottled staining suggests there might have been one. Lovely little locket, it measures 39 mm diameter and 10 mm thick (1.1/2 inches by 3/8 inch). A few little dents - one on the face side rim. It has initials in flowing script engraved on the lid - they are worn a bit faint, but possibly read J.A.B.   « Less
