Since then, the sideboard has come to acquire a stunning patina, which especially compliments the wispy mahogany grain. Other attractive details include a lovely, shaped skirt; elegant, square tapered legs; brass swan neck pull and knobs; and herringbone inlay along the face of the sideboard, a subtle and intricate feature characteristic of fine craftsmanship. Three cabinets (two closed with shelves, one open) and a silver drawer make for plenty of storage space. The drawer features dovetailed joints, signifying sturdy construction, and placement is easy and flexible, as the piece rests on casters. Despite a small crack in the skirt, and a few barely noticable scratches and dings--inevitable phenomena with a piece almost 120 years old--this sideboard is very good condition. The wood is mahogany, and has aged very well over the years, while the serpentine design of this chiffonier is rather elegant. Perhaps the most striking feature of this antique chiffonier is the two pairs of bobbin-turned columns, which can be found on either side of the base, as well as on the top supporting the upper shelf on the backsplash. This antique chiffonier also has a semi-hidden drawer, and a double doored cabinet. Although the chiffonier cabinet has a lock, there is no key. The interior of the antique chiffonier has one shelf, and it is quite spacious. Overall, the condition of this antique chiffonier is good, especially considering that it is nearly 120 years old.   « Less

It is a reproduction of the Georgian period pedestal table design, which was popularized in the late 1700s to early 1800s, and really exudes a sense of classic elegance. The mahogany looks amazing, with a rich color and very intense grain that are sure to make a bold statement in any room. Also, there is a banding of yew wood bordering the tabletop all the way around. The yew wood creates a nice contrast to the mahogany and brings out its lovely color. The table sits on a very thick and sturdy pedestal base with four short legs extending from the pedestal. Each leg is shaped quite nicely and has a brass foot and caster at the end.
