Two matching antique door hardware sets, circa 1905, with doorknobs and plates. The doorplates feature an elegant volute design with a crown of leaves at the bottom; the doorknobs feature a fourfold volute pattern. These doorknob sets are in very good antique condition with an aged finish. The hardware has been lacquered to prevent rust. The door knobs measure 2 1/4” in diameter and 2 1/4” deep; the plates are 7 1/2” by 2 1/2”. Each set includes a pair of doorknobs with the connecting rod and set screws, and a pair of doorplates. Hard-to-find antique cast bronze door hardware sets by Mallory, Wheeler, & Co., patent dated 1884, in their unusual “Arabic” design. Each set includes a pair of door knobs, a pair of plates, one decorative mortise lock, and a rare decorative strikeplate (enough hardware for one door). The knobs and plates feature an Arabic character on a rippled background. The backplates and lock are signed “M.W.” This hardware is in very good to excellent condition, with the expected scratches on the strikeplates and some tiny nicks on the edge of one lock (pictured). Each doorknob is 2 ¼” in diameter and 2” deep; the backplates measure 1-11/16” by 5 1/4". The faceplates of the mortise locks are 5 ½” by 7/8”, and each lock has a backset of 2-3/8”. A gorgeous antique Art Nouveau door hardware set in P. & F. Corbin’s “Lorraine” (or “Loraine”) pattern, with a pair of doorknobs and the matching backplates. Circa 1905, the back plates feature an anthemion at the top and the bottom, surrounded by volutes and intricate foliate detail. The door knobs feature a threefold looped border intertwined with leaves. This hardware is in excellent condition. The plates are 2 ½” wide and 8 ½” tall, and the doorknobs are 2 ¼” wide and 2 ¼” deep. The set includes a pair of knobs, a pair of plates, and the connecting spindle with set screws. Complete sets of antique Eastlake door hardware in Reading Hardware’s “Montello” pattern. Each set includes the pair of door knobs with connecting spindle, two backplates, and a decorative mortise lock (enough hardware for one door). Dating from the 1890’s, this door hardware features drum-shaped doorknobs with a stylized leaf design; the doorplates feature a coordinating design with stylized leaves. According to the Reading Hardware catalog, the Montello pattern and Windsor pattern used the same decorative lock, ornamented with geometric details and stylized leaves. The doorknobs are 2 ¼” in diameter and 2” deep, and the backplates are 1 ¾” wide and 5 ½” long. The faceplate of the lock measures 5 1/4” by 7/8” with a 2 ½” backset. Hard-to-find antique Tudor door hardware sets, 1920’s or 1930’s, with nickel plated doorknobs and matching backplates. The doorknobs feature a raised center in the middle of a nine-point star; the plates have a hammered texture and a very distinctive shape. Unusually heavy and well-made for their size, this hardware is cast iron, with a layer of copper (slightly visible on a few of the doorknobs) and then a layer of nickel. Each set includes a pair of plates and a pair of knobs with the connecting spindle and set screws (enough hardware for one door). A fabulous antique Art Deco bathroom doorknob set with matching plates, dating from the 1920’s or 1930’s. This set includes a pair of plates and a pair of knobs with the connecting spindle and set screws. Like most antique bathroom sets, this features a chrome doorknob and thumb-turn plate for the inside of the bathroom, to coordinate with the plumbing fixtures, while the outside features a darker plate that would coordinate with the rest of the hardware in the house. The backplates feature an unusual elongated shape with an overlapped border, and the doorknobs are ornamented with a matching design, with a triangular shape in the middle of the knob.
