Two biscuit groups of Sevres on an ovale base of blue porcelain and gold highlights, marked with "socle pour les groupes de côté n° 1 et 2 du surtout de Bacchus 1872". Each group represents a Bacchante and a Satyr playing music. In the first group, the Bacchante plays cymbals while the Satyr sitting next to her plays trumpets. In the second group, the Bacchante lost its musical instruments, probably tambourines. The Satyr plays panpipes. These models present la Bacchante au tambour basque and la Bacchante aux cymbales, there are marqued S (18)72 on the base. These two biscuits, along with the four figures sold in a second batch, are the surtout de Bacchus. This model was started at the Sevres factory at the end of 1772 after the designs of Jean-Hughes Taraval and finished in 1773. Very good condition. Napoléon III Period, Circa: 1872. Dim: W: 11,4 in - D: 8,3in - H: 15in. / Deux groupes de biscuit de Sèvres sur des socles ovales de porcelaine bleue et rehauts d'or portant chacun une inscription "socle pour les groupes de côté n° 1 et 2 du surtout de Bacchus, 1872". Chaque groupe représente une bacchante et un satyre jouant de la musique. Dans le premier groupe, la bacchante joue des cymbales tandis que le satyre assis l'accompagne avec des trompettes. Dans le second groupe, la bacchante a perdu ses instruments de musique, il devait s'agir de tambourins, le satyre joue quant-à lui de la flûte de pan. Ces deux biscuits forment avec les quatre figures vendues dans un second lot, le surtout de Bacchus. Cet ensemble a été commencé à la manufacture de Sèvres à la fin de 1772 d'après les dessins de Jean-Hughes Taraval et achevé en 1773. Ici les modèles présentés figurent la Bacchante au tambour basque et la Bacchante aux cymbales, ils sont marqués S (18)72 sur la base. Four biscuits of Sevres on an circular base of blue porcelain and gold highlights. The first Satyr is standing, leaning against a tree trunk, at his feet is an overturned amphora and a gourd. This Satyr plays trumpet and holding another one in his right hand. A second statuette is a Faun in the same position as the previous but with a fruit basket at his feet. He has lost its musical instrument, probably a flute. The other two biscuits represent Bacchantes. At the foot of the first one, is a vase filled with fruit, she holds an amphora and a cup. The second Nymph has a fruit basket at her feet and plays sitar. These models present le Faune aux cornes et le Faune à la flûte as well as la Bacchante à l'amphore et la Bacchante au sistre. There are marqued S (18)76 on the base. These four biscuits, along with the two models sold in a second batch, are the surtout de Bacchus. Un premier satyre est représenté debout, adossé à un tronc d'arbre au pied duquel se trouve une amphore renversée et une gourde. Ce satyre souffle d'une trompette en forme de corne et en tient une deuxième dans sa main droite. Une seconde statuette figure un faune dans la même position que le précédent mais avec à ses pieds un panier de fruits, son instrument de musique ayant disparu, il devait s'agir d'une flûte. Les deux autres biscuits représentent des Bacchantes. Aux pieds de la première se trouve un vase rempli de fruits, elle tient dans ses mains une amphore et une coupe. La seconde nymphe a à ses pieds un panier de fruits et joue du sistre. Ici les modèles présentés figurent le Faune aux cornes et le Faune à la flûte ainsi que la Bacchante à l'amphore et la Bacchante au sistre. L'ensemble marqué S (18)76 sur la base. Ces quatre biscuits forment avec les deux groupes vendus dans un second lot, le surtout de Bacchus. On a circular base, in blue porcelain and gold highlights, a biscuit statuette representing Psyche as a young girl hiding the arc of Love. This model is the counterpart of l'Amour menaçant or Love Threatening realised by Etienne-Maurice Falconet, commissioned by Madame de Pompadour and exhibited at the Salon in 1757. The sketch in plaster of this Psyche was exhibited at the Salon in 1761. Unlike its counterpart, this model has never been done in marble, but only in Sevres porcelain (a model in soft paste is kept at the Musée National de Sevres) or in glazed earthenware (preserved in the Château de Fontainebleau). On the pedestal, the couplet of Voltaire has been changed to: Non, pas plus que tu n'es mon maître Tu l'es, le fut ou le doit être Very good condition. XIX° Period, Circa: 1890. Dim: W: 6,7 in - D: 6,7in - H: 11,8in. / Sur une base circulaire en porcelaine bleue et rehauts d'or, un biscuit représentant Psyché sous les traits d'une petite fille cachant l'arc de l'Amour. Ce modèle est le pendant de l'Amour Menaçant d'Etienne- Maurice Falconet, commandé par Mme de Pompadour et exposé au Salon en 1757. L'esquisse en plâtre de cette Psyché a été exposée au Salon en 1761. Contrairement à son pendant ce modèle n'a jamais été réalisé en marbre mais uniquement en biscuit de Sèvres (un modèle en pâte tendre est conservé au Musée national de Céramique de Sèvres) ou en terre vernissée (conservé au Château de Fontainebleau). Do you need a sidekick? Well here's the world's most loyal sidekick waiting for you. Senor Panza stands 16" tall upon a book with the letter "V" on the spine. He is carved from tight grain, American long leaf pine. His expression is hopeful and serene as he rests his hands on his low slung belt. His buckled Spanish shoes and too small coat clue the viewer to his identity. His age is unknown, but a crack down his back tells he's been around a very long time. She is made of a heavy plaster compound but feels like metal. She has a couple of touched up blemishes on her hair and two tiny nicks on her shoulder but that does not take anything away from her presence.
