We are now offering this wonderful 84-piece set of vintage Franciscan ware, BMB Coronado, that is in beautiful colors of coral, aqua, and yellow. Stamped on the bottom is "Franciscan Ware - Made in California U.S.A." There are four complete sets in this collection, which includes 10 coral dinner plates, 9 coral saucers, five coral bowls, 12 coral cups, 8 coral cup plates, and 1 coral serving bowl; 1 aqua teapot, 1 aqua platter, 1 aqua butter dish, 1 aqua gravy boat, 1 aqua creamer, 3 aqua dinner plates, 5 aqua small plates, 2 aqua cup plates, 2 aqua bowls, 5 aqua cups, and 6 aqua saucers; and 1 yellow serving bowl. One saucer has a very small chip, 6 of the bowls have black scuff marks, 1 dessert plate has a chip and 1 has a discolored area, and 4 of the dinner plates have a small chip plus several have black scuff marks from normal use. The platter measures 1" deep, and 11 3/4" in diameter. The butter dish is 3/4" tall, 9" from side to side, and 4 3/8" from front to back. The fish shaped dish is 1 3/4" in height, 10 5/8" from side to side, and 5" from front to back. The gray boat is 4" in height, 7 1/2" from side to side, and 6 1/2" from front to back. The sugar bowl with the lid measures 4 1/4" in height, 5 3/4" from side to side, and 3 7/8" from front to back. The creamer is 3 1/2" in height, 5 1/2" from side to side, and 3 7/8" from front to back. The tea pot is 6 1/4" in height, 9 1/4" from side to side, and 6 1/2" from front to back. Approximate weight for the entire set is 50.5 pounds. We are not sure of the exact age of these pieces. We do have more photographs that we can email if you are interested. c. 1946 #1BL-14 Snowberry Pattern Console The Roseville Pottery Company has a rich history as an American art and commercial pottery company. Before the company moved their offices from Roseville to Zanesville, Ohio in 1898, peddlers included their pottery pieces among the necessities and occasional luxuries that they offered housewives from door to door. Roseville catered to this market by offering a “Canvaser’s Outfit” that offered a miniature cuspidor and umbrella stand “finished in blended colors, artistically decorated represent[ing] exactly full size ware.” Roseville began producing art pottery in earnest at their Zanesville plant in 1900 under the direction of Ross Purdy. The new pottery was named Rozane and it came in a brown finish, a light finish, a monochromatic soft brown and a blended finish similar to the Aurelian line of its chief competitor, Weller. Most pieces of this period were artist-signed. Purdy was was succeeded in 1904 by Frederick Rhead. He created some of the most highly sought after early lines, but, sadly, he left the company in 1908. By 1914, the Rozane Art Pottery line was discontinued. The majority of Roseville Pottery was produced during the 1920s, 1930s and early 1940s. During this time, the company’s art director, Frank Ferrell, introduced such popular lines such as Wisteria, Sunflower, Futura and Ferrella. After WWII, times and tastes changed and Roseville attempted to launch a line of modernistic dinnerware that never really succeeded and the company was forced to close and liquidate its assets in 1954. This piece is a console #1BL-14 in the Roseville Snowberry Dusty Rose pattern. Slight chipping on very edge of right handle (see photo). Otherwise in excellent condition.
