Wonderful little gem frame, dore bronze, very well wrought. The tops of each frame are decorated with garlands bound by bows. The frames are joined by a fleur di lis. It has both an easel back and hanging loops. Condition is excellent for the frames. There are original gilt metal backs; although they need tabs to keep them in place. There is no glass cover for the pictures, either. Dimensions:nearly 4" across, 2 3/4" tall, the length of the easel back is 2".   « Less

Very nice double easel back picture frames; these are very ornate and small! Intricately worked decoration include floral, foliate, beading and fleur-de-lis elements. This little frame is gilt bronze, or dore. It is in excellent condition save for one of the glass covers missing. Dimensions: nearly 3" across, 2 1/8" high and the easel back is over 2" long. cobiness was born in 1933 and raised in warroad, minnesota. after a stint in the us army where he was a golden gloves boxer, he moved to canada and lived on the buffalo point reserve on the shores of lake of the woods. like many of the woodland school artists he was self taught. he began by illustrating scenes from his community and then evolved to more abstract forms as in this painting available at the hambleton gallery. influenced by the work of benjamin chee chee, by the 1960's he was recognized for stylized images of animals. in an interview that was given to windspeaker reporter david hickey in 1992, he claimed to be much influenced by picasso's sparse use of line and colour. cobiness worked in oil, acrylic, watercolour, pen and ink and coloured pencil, signing his treaty number '47' to his later works. eddy died in 1996.this pen&ink sketch dimensions 22 1/2"x28 1/2" on paper signed by artist.   « Less

English School, mid 19th century gouache painting under glass, original gilt framing. The subject is a beautiful young woman done by a highly skilled but presently unidentified artist. Just purchased and in transit the painting is in as found condition, and a cleaning to board and glass is suggested. Dimensions: 21 Inches x 20.5" unframed 60 x 50 cm (unframed) Provenance: From a private estate in Bristol. England. Condition: The painting has some areas of foxing, but this does not detract the from the excellent quality. Cleaning the portrait and inside of the glass will enhance this portrait greatly.
