circa: 1920 width: 59.5 height: 75.5 length: 20.25 This antique oak Welsh dresser was crafted in England around 1920. Today, the oak retains a remarkably beautiful complexion and a striking grain that have grown more beautiful over the years with the development of a rich patina. The barley twist framing is particularly elegant, and its florid contours contrast wonderfully with the twelve square panels that compose the face of the backsplash. Other notable adornments include the paneling on the cabinet doors, the carved trim along the top, and the raised carvings on each of the drawers. The frame remains very sturdy, although the surfaces of this dresser have sustained the normal assortment of wear marks and stains. Overall condition therefore remains very good. « Less

circa: 1890 width: 42 height: 43 length: 19 This beautiful antique mahogany chest of drawers was handmade in Victorian England around 1890. The flame mahogany has developed a deep, rich patina that complements the natural beauty of the wood, which is coated with a fine wax finish. The solid brass pulls contrast wonderfully with the mahogany, while the turned feet look great. Although this chest remains quite attractive, it has sustained significant superficial wear, including various scuffs and stains as well as damage to the veneers. Both sides have also developed small, cosmetic separations in the wood at the bottoms, and a few areas have been chipped, particularly on the skirt, but also on one of the top corners. Additionally, the drawers slide in and out with a little difficulty. This Victorian chest does, however, remain very sturdy, so overall condition is good. « Less

circa: 1890 width: 43 height: 49 length: 21 This exquisite antique maple chest of drawers was handmade in Victorian England around 1890 and recently restored by a third-generation cabinetmaker. Included in the restoration were new bird''s eye maple veneers, new hardware and the black moulding around the drawers and top. The result is a fine example of the legacy of English craftsmanship that still continues today. The maple, for instance, displays a deep, lustrous complexion and an incredibly striking bird''s eye grain. Treated to an elaborate finishing process that ended in a quality wax finish, the maple is sure to grow more beautiful over the years. Solid brass swan neck pulls contrast beautifully with the wood, as does the black moulding. Each drawer features original hand-cut dovetails and original locks, although the latter no longer function. The internal structure of the chest is completely original and very sturdy, so overall condition is excellent. « Less

circa: 1890 width: 39 height: 41 length: 20 This gorgeous yew chest of drawers was English-made by hand in Victorian England around 1890. Having undergone a recent restoration that includes new hardware, new yew veneers and a new base, the chest now looks remarkably stunning. The yew displays a deep, lustrous complexion and a striking grain, which are complemented by the lovely string ebony inlay. Each drawer of course features hand-cut dovetailed joints and still operates smoothly, while the shaped bracket feet are as sturdy as they are elegant. Because the veneers are new, there is really no wear to speak of, although the yew has been hand-distressed to look like an antique. The locks also no longer function, but otherwise this chest remains in excellent condition. « Less

Having undergone a recent restoration that includes new hardware, new walnut veneers and a new base, the chest now looks remarkably stunning. The burl walnut displays a deep, lustrous complexion and a striking grain, which are complemented by lovely walnut crossbanding. circa: 1820 width: 37 height: 31 length: 18 This antique mahogany chest of drawers was English-made by hand around 1820, during the Georgian period. Recently, the chest was restored by a third-generation cabinetmaker, who treated the flame mahogany and rosewood banding to a new French polish and added new solid brass pulls. The result is a stunning chest that boasts a deep, lustrous complexion and a pronounced, wispy flame mahogany grain. The rosewood banding and brass pulls also contrast beautifully with the mahogany, making this quite a striking chest. Of course, each drawer features hand-cut dovetails and still operates very smoothly, while the shaped bracket feet--also a new addition--are as sturdy as they are elegant. Beyond a few stress marks here and there (which are remarkably few for a 200-year-old chest), there is no wear to speak of beyond a small hole in one of the drawers, which is actually where a knot in the wood eventually gave way. Overall, therefore, this chest remains in excellent condition and would make a fine addition to any home! « Less

circa: 2000 width: 37 height: 36 length: 21 This exquisite restored antique bachelors chest is the product of a full restoration of an English RAF bachelors chest, dating back to just after the Second World War, most likely about 1970. This restored chest has been re-made with stunning burl elm veneers and intricate satinwood inlays, including optional fan-inlay designs on the top as well as banding around the top and drawer fronts. Crafted using a traditional two-over-three drawer design, each drawer of this bachelors chest boasts brass swan neck handles and dovetailed joints. Resting on sturdy shaped bracket feet, these restored antique chests are strong, beautiful and will continue to grow more beautiful for generations to come! « Less

circa: 1920 width: 42 height: 75 length: 17 This oak Welsh dresser was hand-crafted in England around 1900 and recently imported to our Atlanta furniture store. Today, the oak looks especially rich, with a lustrous complexion and a striking grain, and this is in part due to the development of a lovely patina. The Jacobean style paneling also looks quite beautiful, as do the turned legs and stretcher. A cabinet, a drawer and two shelves provide plenty of storage space, while the single drawer features hand-cut dovetails. Although this dresser remains quite sturdy, it has sustained some surface wear, mainly in the form of small wear marks here and there that are consistent with age. On the sides, however, age splits have developed. Age splits are superficial separations between the boards that result, as the term indicates, from age--they are purely cosmetic and thus do not affect structural integrity. Finally, the top and bottom separate for shipping and easy movement around the home. « Less

circa: 1910 width: 42 height: 59 length: 19 This wonderful mahogany dressing table was hand-crafted in England around 1910, during the Edwardian period. Since then, the wood has come to acquire a lovely patina, which nicely accents the high quality of the mahogany. Brass Hardware provides a nice contrast with the wood. Various carvings and grooves, as well as the turned columns on either side of the tilting mirror, provide subtle accents that adorn the piece with a fine elegance. Five drawers, each of which feature hand-cut dovetailed drawer joints, and a cabinet space provide generous storage space. The sturdy plinth base supports the piece quite firmly. Condition remains excellent, despite a little spotting on the mirror, which is inevitable of a piece with such age. Certainly, this Edwardian mahogany dressing table would make a fine addition to any home. « Less

circa: 1820 width: 43 height: 42 length: 20 Handmade in Georgian-period England around 1820, this wonderful chest exhibits all the fine quality and beauty characteristic of Georgian furniture. The flame mahogany, for instance, remains as rich and striking as ever, while the excellent choice in solid brass pulls and pierced backplates contrast beautifully with the wood. Traditional string ebony inlay adorns each of the drawers, which are positioned in a classic two-over-three drawer design, which was popularized during the Jacobean and Georgian periods. The elegantly shaped apron and splayed feet help to give the chest a comely appearance of elevation and spaciousness, while the rosewood crossbanding around the top of the chest looks quite stunning in contrast with the mahogany. Structurally, this chest remains as strong and stable as ever, although it has developed some crackling in the apron, face and top (see pictures). Otherwise, due to superb original construction and a recent re-polishing, this Georgian chest remains in excellent overall condition for a piece that is two hundred years old! « Less
