Orrefors Centerpiece Item: 9894 Circa 1990''s 2 3/4''H birds 4''W bird 14 1/2''H table to top 20 1/2''W tip to tip Bowl: 9''w x 12''L Base leaf: 4'' x 4'' Artist signed in the bowl BH 3783 Oval signed Glass bowl center by artist Gummer Cyren Circa 1960. Frosted and detail grape leaves. Frosted and detailed birds at each end above the curved handles. Ornate Gold gilt frame. Gold leaf & flower trim. 1 bird as is, previously repaired with glue that has turned brown. One grape leaf is detatched and needs to be reapplied. The holder is slightly bent so the bowl is not always straight. The shallow bowl does have scratches. I purchased this piece outside Chicago in 1995 from an antiques dealer. His story was that it was commissioned as a special order as a wedding gift to a beer company heir. I don''t know if that is true, but it is a stunning centerpiece that has graced the center of my dining room table ever since. It floats roses and supports Holiday decorations perfectly. A treasure that is as far as I know one of a kind. It would benefit to a professional restoration if you are a picky person, I loved it just the way it is. My best guess is that these two pieces are a convienient marriage of two lovely pieces. This is a lovely patinated bronze clad pair of figural nymph candleholders. They are figures created by Russian artist Olga Popova who is listed in Fieldings and are stamped MP on the front tips. They are made for Muller and copyrighted in 1923 stamped on both pieces. The figures are draped from the waist down and have bare chests and feet. The candleholders are balanced on the heads and held in place with upturned arms. They were purchased from an upstate New York estate about twenty years ago. A single of these candleholder sold in Jamestown Rhoad Island in 1989 for $1,000. The condition is aged appropriate.
