For sale I have a lovely pair of Candlesticks made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is known as "Snowberry". The Candlesticks measure 4 3/4" tall and are 3 7/16" wide at the base. The Candlesticks depict very pleasing clusters of White Berries with a handful of detained green leaves on brown winding branches flowing from the top to the bottom. This is set against a background Glaze that bleeds from a soft Rose at the top to an even deeper Rose Tone at the bottom. There are two handles on each side of the candlesticks that are somewhat angular. The pattern of berries and leaves are on both sides. The Candlesticks are in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. They are both signed with the raised relief Roseville U.S.A. signature along with 1CS2 which is the mold number. One of the candlesticks also has a raised relief number 3 and a number 17 written in grease pencil. The other candlestick has a number 7 or letter L incised into the bottom along with a couple of illegible grease pencil marks all of which I believe to be makers marks. For sale I have a very nice Console Set made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is "Wincraft" and they are done in a mottled Green Glaze. There are three pieces to this set and the shapes are a nice sized Console Bowl with matching Candlesticks. The Console Bowl measures approximately 2 3/4" tall and 10 1/4" outside handle measurement. The inside rim of the bowl is ever so slightly oval and varies in measurement from 8" to 8 1/4" in diameter. The Candlesticks measure 2 1/8" tall and 3 3/4"in diameter. The pieces have a lovely Hi Gloss mottled Green Glaze. There is a pleasing Lime Green mottled with a Soft Sky Blue that graduates to a Chocolate Brown mottled with Lilac at the base of all pieces. It is quite stunning for all of these glazes to be incorporated on these functional pieces! The Bowl displays Embossed Mountain Laurel Flowers in bloom adorning the rim and a group of leaves coming from the base. The Buttress Style Handles are a wonderful accent to this piece. The Candlesticks are done in the same manner with more exaggerated angular handles. The set is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The Console Bowl is signed on the bottom with "Roseville U.S.A." in raised relief along with the mold number 226-8" also in raised relief. There is also a number 5 written in grease pencil along with an illegible letter which is most likely the finishers marks. The Candlesticks are signed with "Roseville U.S.A." in raised relief along with 251 which is the shape number. There is also a raised number 7 on each candlestick and I am not sure of the significance. There is a letter C in grease pencil on both of them which is a finishers mark. I'm not usually crazy about Hi Gloss Glazes but this line is a very beautiful and pleasing line. It was created late in Roseville's years as this console set was made Circa 1948. This was never a really successful line and there are not many examples on the market. Roseville Pottery was out of business by 1954. Those of you who Collect Wincraft and want an excellent example in both Form and Glaze Combination will surely welcome these pieces of Art Pottery into their Collection. These would also make a lovely Centerpiece to any table setting but not so elegant that they could be kept out for every day use.   « Less

Pretty pair of Victorian candlesticks, made by the Adams pottery, Tunstall, Staffordshire. Their mark dates them to late 19th century, post 1896. Lovely dark navy blue with classical scenes and borders of flowers and leaves. One has a chip on the sconce (see photos - the marks around the rims are just old wax, swhich comes off with warm to hot water), but this is an easy restoration if required. The other has an uneven patch under the rim of the sconce, which could possibly be an old restoration. They each measure 15 cm high with a base of 11 cm diameter (6 inches by 4.1/4 inches). Very attractive pair.   « Less
