In its original silk-lined teak presentation box is this finely detailed three-footed silver bearing the hallmark of noted Canton silversmith Gem Wo and the mark of highest purity. Cast feet in neo-Rococo style contrast with the strongly Chinese elements of bamboo leaves on the border and a central stylized scene of craggy mountains rising above land and water below. Weighing about 13.5 ounces and being about nine inches in diameter and 1-1/2 inches high, the piece is an extraordinary example of China Trade merchandise. A label on the inside repeats information inscribed on the outside of the box. Circa 1850-1860.   « Less

I believe these are "The Three Kings of Orient" circa 1830 with entourage of attendants, a lamp bearer and fine horse under a monlit sky. Excellent artistry, and box is in super fine condition owith brilliant details.. Button lock works, hinges fine, just about mint except for the most minor of surface wear. Unusual and very rare REVERSE PAINTING ON MIRRORED GLASS, circa late 18th early 19th century, Chinese Export, of a delightful young Chinese child playing with a cricket. The painting, done on mirrored glass is an exceptional find not only in age and quality, but subject matter. Children were very rarely depicted in these period paintings, as the market was made to appeal to merchants and sailors visiting China on long journeys. The subject, a young boy with bound pigtails is richly dressed, charming and winsome. The soft colors of the portrait are pleasing to the eye. Perfect to blend with most decorating schemes. The original beaded wooden frame is hand chamfered and in good condition, measuring 12.5 " x 16.5 " The painting was purchased from a prominent old estate in California. Condition: Very good.
