Dull gilt decoration and base line. Similar piece illustrated figure 15, page 83, ''A-Z of Staffordshire Dogs, A Potted History'', by Clive Mason Pope. Good. No cracks. No hairlines. Slight wear to the cobalt base. Some rubbing to gilt. Kiln effects: piece of kiln detritus to the base front; stray russet enamel to the reverse. Restoration to end of base on the underside. Some wear to the cobalt base. Gilt line almost completely rubbed off. Kiln effects: touch mark to the reverse; shrinkage hairline to the reverse; small shrinkage crack just below poodle''s right ear and another to reverse of base; stray cobalt glaze to the reverse.
