ON SALE! WAS $595. Here is a very desirable English magnum sealed wine bottle that held wine vinted in the 1811 Great Comet year!. Beautiful deep green glass with some whittling (crude glass). Blown in an early 3 piece mold and finished in an early form snap-case. 1811 was an exceptional year for wine and wine bottled during that comet year fetched a premium on the market. The wine was bottled and sold for several years after the appearance of the comet. Many believed the wine to have talismanic properties! Bottle is near mint with only a hard to see flake off bottom of seal and a tiny surface pinprick on reverse. A better specimen would be very hard to find. About 13" tall. ON SALE! WAS $4,995. A very rare and desirable black glass wine bottle, circa 1720. This is absolutely one of the nicest bottles of this rare form! Wonderful early squat form with beautiful large scroll handle. About 8” tall. Exceptional condition with normal hand blown glass characteristics, some minor outside wear, heavy base wear and a very tiny prick (smaller than the size of a small pin head) on the edge of the lip. See close up photo. (note there are several reflections in glass as photos were taken outdoors) Deep olive amber (mostly olive), but appears jet black in reflected light. Absolutely gorgeous! The Exposition Universelle of 1878 was held from May 1 though to November 10, 1878 and exhibiting fine arts and new machinery. The completed head of the Statue of Liberty was also showcased.
