Antique, Art Nouveau, signed R. Lalique bronze WWI medal. Made in France circa 1915. Measures a little over 1 1/4 inches in length. Weighs approx 2 grams. Shaped like a Maltese Cross, with an angular ''loop'' at the top, so that the medal could be worn as a piece of jewellery. It depicts a beautifully modelled woman, her diaphenous robes revealing her body beneath it, finely sculpted arms envelope and embrace a tiny child. She seems to draw the child towards and inwards to her seated form. Detail is gorgeous as to be expected from Lalique''s art. Beneath the figural scene is a signature R. LALIQUE and embossed, capital lettering: ORPHELINAT DES ARMEES 1915. The medal was, apparrently, given to those who adopted war orphans. Condition is very good. Antique Louis C. Tiffany Furnaces Inc Favrile bronze and enamel tray. Made first quarter of the 20th century. 12 inches in diameter. 3/4 inch high. Weighs 1118grams (heavy, as expected from bronze). Round tray. Back and shoulders are smoothe, but the center has an ''orange peel'' texture, catching the light and almost iridising with the aged patina, while softening into darkness where age has left it''s mark on the lower portions. The outer band of the rim is also textured, wider and rougher than the orange peel and it is surrounded by a fabulous ring of enamel little raised cells - reminiscent of both cloisonne enamel and Tiffany glass tiles. There are segments with gradaded patterns of turquoise background with orange diamond shapes, alternating with rough squares in a variety of shades of glass-like enamel - from citrine through a range of greens to deep forest. The back of the tray has the TIFFANY FAVRILE scrolling mark with LOUIS C. TIFFANY FURNACES INC. 304. Good, original condition. No dings/dents. Antique bronze and enamel vase. Made 1919-1928 by Louis Comfort Tiffany Furnaces. Measures 11 inches tall. Diameter of upper rim is 4 1/4 inches. Round base, knop on neck and elongated trumpet form. Most of the surface has an orange-peel textured effect, enhanced by the patina formed over the last century. The base has a Persian pattern with alternating scalloped areas left blank or decorated with filigree wirework. The bronze filigree is intersperced with triangular turquoise enameled reserves. The vase is hallmarked underneath: Tiffany Furnaces Logo with Tiffany''s initials; LOUIS C. TIFFANY FURNACES, INC ; FAVRILE 166A. Someone has hand engraved 84-3-77. From a Georgia plantation: Extraordinary Charles X signed antique gilt bronze ( ormolu ) inkstand / deskset with blackamoors. Made by the Leblanc factory in 1827 in Paris, France. Measurements:12 inches accross the sides; 5 1/2 inches to top of heads. The set to hold all of your writing equipment in the early 19th century: Shaped base in ridges. The bottom has original wooden base with old felt lining. A pair of lidded urns on either side of a removable deeply cut glass inkwell with gilt bronze fitted lid. In front is a scalloped tray for holding various implements. Behind the inkwell is an openwork half wheel, flanked on either side by a spectacular pair of blackamoors, traditionally standing on a pair of pedestals. Each blackamoor, naked from the waist up, is holding a book in his outstretched arms. Feathered quill would lie accross the arms. Facial features and hair are superb. Original modelling and casting are of the best French quality. According to sources, the Leblanc foundry/factory existed for exactly one year, 1827, in Paris before being burned down. The wooden board under the stand has an embossed LEBLANC as well as inked information. The arms that support the urns on either side have embossed LEBLANC (remove urns and scrolls to find them). Condition of the whole set is very good or excellent considering the age of the piece. French Islamic / Persian style cloisonne champleve enamel on dore bronze box. Made 19th century. Measures slightly under 6 1/2 inches square, with rounded corners. A little over 1 1/2 inches high. Hinged box. Square shape with rounded corners. The outer surface is enamelled with intricate champleve enamel in a Persian inspired pattern, with tiny flowers, foliage and scrolls in geometrically repeating patterns. Colours range from a creamy yellow ground, through greens, pale, Windsor and cobalt blue to iron red / orange , purple and white. The border has a very thin margin of engraved geometric pattern. Inside base has original velvety lining and top has gilded bronze raised pattern. Condition is very good. 3 cold painted bronze miniature mice, made in Austria, late 19th - early 20th century. Height: under 1 1/4inch. One mouse plays the saxophone, one holds up a large piece of yellow cheese and the 3rd walks with a stick (one of the 3 Blind Mice) with his arm outstretched. While most of their bodies are painted grey, they have extremely finely modelled coats and the bronze comes through the paint forming wonderful highlights in gold, especially on the great facial features.
