A staghorn body of characteristic Hungarian forked type, the outer side engraved with a series of repeating panels in Hungarian folk style, centering on an arrangement of sun symbols, fitted with a nozzle and two horn rings for suspension Most of these types of flasks were made during the 17th -18th century in the Hungarian province of Transylvania, now Romania, but also in the Veszprém County. Antique 18th century European Plug Bayonet. A straight tapering single-edged steel blade, double-edged toward the point, cut with a long central fuller, and a further slender fuller on each face. A cast brass crossguard with a chased quillon block, comprising of a pair of recurved quillons, turned horn grip with brass ferrule, and a brass washer on the pommel. MEASUREMENTS: Overall length in the scabbard is approximately: 51.5 cm (20 1/4 in). CONDITION: In good condition and shape considering its age, with signs of age and usage, the horn grip is with old cracks. This type of bayonet was designed to fit into the muzzle of a musket, which meant the musket was temporarily unable to fire. The plug bayonet was quickly abandoned in favour of the socket bayonet, which fitted around the barrel of the musket and allowed it to fire. Double edged blade with three central groove , long the central groove the swordsmith mark a " S " of Venetian origin. Classic and massive basket hilt guard ,engraved and with some chiselled ligns. Typical stylized cat's head in brass with a central mask . Wooden grip covered with black leather and metal wire . Very good condition. Total length 121 cm Notes: very nice example and very rare size . The mark "S" on both sides of the blade is visible in others exemples dating from the late sixteenth century to about 1630 ; they are preserved in Florence and the Musée de l 'Armee Paris. Straight double edged blade of massive construction, at the forte circa 8 cm wide and then gradually narrows to end with a sharp slightly and reinforced point ; iron handle with curved S guard and lobed quillons , long handle with holes for the rivets of rectangular form . Very rare globular pommel. Total length 106 cm Blade 71 cm 35 cm from the pommel to guard note: type is not very common, a similar exemple is preserved at the Museum Foundation of Legnago ,Fioroni, two other exemples of similar shape one with a snake form blade were found in the river Bacchiglione, Padua near the Castle of S .
