The oak displays a rich, lustrous complexion and a wonderfully pronounced grain that make this bookcase quite a beautiful piece. The dental moulding also looks quite elegant, while the entire bookcase rests on a sturdy plinth base, and beneath that, on removable casters. All shelves are fully adjustable by means of an alligator bracket system, making this bookcase a flexible piece that would make a great addition to any home or office.   « Less

circa: 1960 width: 20 height: 34 length: 18 This beautiful set of six mahogany dining chairs was crafted in England around 1960. The backrests are made with beautiful flame mahogany veneers, satinwood string inlay and carved harp centerpieces, while the frame is fluted all along the front. The pop-out seats look great, with green and cream stripes that complement the mahogany beautifully. Although these chairs remain beautiful and sturdy, they have sustained general surface wear along the wood, and the seats have all developed stains of one kind or another. Overall condition therefore remains very good. Each side chair measures 19'' wide x 17'' deep x 33.5'' high, and the armchairs measure 20'' wide x 18'' deep x 33.5'' high, both with a seat height of 19.5''. The arms measure 26.5'' high.   « Less

circa: 2000 width: 35 height: 34 length: 13 This beautiful pair of rosewood consoles was recently handmade in England as a Victorian period reproduction. The rosewood itself shows a rich complexion and a pronounced grain that benefit from a fine wax finish, which both enriches and protects the natural beauty of the wood. The brass heads and feet, which form columns whose shape suggests the natural contours of the human body, contrast beautifully with the rosewood. They also position these consoles as examples of eclectic revivalism, which was a stylistic practice in Victorian cabinetry that involved a montage of periods and otherwise disparate design elements. Crossbanded edges around the tops, also rosewood, form an elegant border around the pieces. Because these consoles are newly English-made, they are very sturdy, although the tops did sustain some light scuffs in shipping, which is unusual with our furniture. Overall condition is therefore very good.   « Less

circa: 1960 width: 34 height: 60 length: 17 This elegant mahogany drinks cabinet was crafted in England around 1960. Today, the flame mahogany remains as beautiful as ever, with a wonderfully patinated complexion and a striking grain. The brass hardware also makes a fine complement to the mahogany. Complete crossbanding and carved cabriole feet, this drinks cabinet certainly looks fantastic--and with two locking cabinets, it is also quite useful. The upper section even contains a pull-out slide for conveniently mixing drinks, while an interior light comes on when opening the door--this will, however, need to be rewired to function in the U.S.A. (and the wire has been cut to ensure that it is). Although this cabinet does remain quite sturdy, the mahogany veneers have developed some minor flaws on the upper doors and the feet especially have sustained some scratches. Otherwise, condition is very good overall.   « Less
