This is a lovely Victorian English beveled mahogeny panel that has been handpainted with groups or white cabbage roses surrounding a perch of swallows. The painting needs cleaning and there are some chips to the panel which is unframed. It is a delightful shabby chic cottage form of decorative accessorizing and was probably a front panel for an armoire at one time. English Mahogeny Fire Screen Item: 9284 Circa1900 Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts overtones 45''Tall 31''Wide 16'' deep Mahogany free standing fire screen. Tooled embossed and handpainted leather center features a large spider inhabited spider web and hydrangea flowers in purple and white with green foliage. It is a piece that has overtones of three periods with Victorian wood work, Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau themes. The condition of the front of the screen is excellent. There is one piece of molding missing on one foot. The back panel of leather that would face the fire is torn. This is a fabulous decorative object that I bought from a very exclusive antiques gallery in Scotland in the early 1990''s. It has been with me since then at my home. I would recommend shipping by crate or blanket wrap with a carrier such as Craters & Freighters or which would be at the buyers expense and direction. This is a fabulous gold leaf gesso frame in the Roccoco style. It is oval in shape and measures 201/2'' high by 14 1/2'' wide. The flourishes at the top measure 5'' away from the back. They look like waves of gold and silver. The frame currently holds a 1908 German chromolithograph of a beautiful girl out of the Arabian Knights and other paper applicays from the early 1900''s. These are mounted on lavender silk velvet material. This frame is suitable for framing an elegant mirror or just as it is in it''s current format.
