An outstanding Worcester Wash Basin and Guglet set meticulously hand painted with The Willow Bridge Fisherman pattern with border number 90 (reference: Brandon, French and Sandon. Worcester Blue & white Porcelain 1751 -90) These sets rarely come on the market, the basins have usually been damaged and had some restoration. This set is in wonderful condition with no restoration to either piece. The bowl has a very small fine glaze star crack to the underside of the base just inside the footrim, under strong light this does not show as damage to the porcelain so no evidence inside the bowl. As with most very large Worcester pieces of this early period there are some firing faults, these are very minor and consist of slight deformation of the footrim and bowl. The bowl sits perfectly flat. The Guglet is in perfect condition. The Worcester hand painted open crescent to the base. Basin measures 27.5cms diameter x 11.5cms high. A truly exceptional Worcester mug decorated in the Plantation Print pattern with grooved loop handle. The mug is of slightly waisted shape with flared foot and top rims. The pattern is clear with no blurring. The condition is perfect, incredibly this mug has survived for 250 years with no damage at all not even a scratch. I very much doubt it has had any use. The Worcester crescent to the base which appears as an open crescent with a smaller hatched crescent inside. The open crescent indicates hand painting but this is not the earlier hand painted example of the Plantation pattern. Measures 11.8cms high. An outstanding C 1755 Worcester Cos Lettuce sauce boat, the overlapping lettuce leaves and veins finely highlighted in a vibrant pink. Exquisitely painted insects including caterpillar, butterflies, moths and beetles adorn the leaves. These sauceboats were produced for a very short period at Worcester, they are a delight to hold, a really wonderful and tactile shape. The base of the interior shows a single light blue flower and leaves.Throughout this early period at Worcester many of the wares produced were still vunerable to faults with the firing and this little sauceboat has a small firing fault to the very base of the foot below the handle, It is no more than 4mm long. There are no chips, cracks or restoration. A remarkable survivor from this very early Worcester period. Measures 17.5 cms long overall.
