A framed under glass litho of the USS Arizona. This is a special piece, signed by John Roach and also numbered 634/1500. Roach was the artist who painted the 50' x 15' mural commissioned by the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, depicting the USS Arizona steaming off Diamond Head in the summer of 1941. For sale is this lovely oil on board titled "Birches in Sunshine", E.M. Browne, label on reverse. The painting is 13 1/2"x 9 1/2" and the frame makes it 16 3/4"x 12 3/4". We love this painting, and its currently on display in our house. E.M. Browne isn't showing up in any of our searches, so there isn't to much to say about her except what it reads on the back. She apparently lived/lives in Auburn, Maine and this painting was sold in Lewiston, Me. Not terribly old, maybe 1950's-60's. A nice New England scene with bold brush strokes. The painting is in good condition while the frame shows some where. « Less

We are quite pleased to offer to you this Christian Molsted (Danish, lived and active, 1862-1930) oil on canvas, titled on back of strecther Marinemaler. The painting measures 24 1/2" x 17 1/2". We just had this professionally cleaned. A fantastic seascape by a listed Danish artist. There is some provenance on the back of the strecther, notably that this painting originally sold at a Danish? auction house in 1898. There are also more words in Dutch? that we don't understand. The bottom erroneously attributes the painting to a Charles Molsted, but this is in fact Christian as the top reads. The front is not signed. Very nice coloring in a roiling sea, 2 boats against an overcast sky. Feel free to ask for more pictures if needed. « Less
