A stoneware water cooler, dating late 1800's, from Dayton, Ohio. The cooler marked Pasteur, Germ Proof Filter, Pasteur-Chamberland Filter Co. Dayton, Ohio. A Pasteur-Chamberland filter is a porcelain water filter invented by Charles Chamberland in 1884. The Pasteur-Chamberland Filter Co. was destroyed in a fire Aug. 14 of 1898, so your time frame for this cooler is 1884-1898. The height is almost 15". The spigot has a push valve to open/close the water. Good overall condition. Likely a 3 Gallon piece, possibly 4 though I am not sure if they made 4g. The interior is a chocolate color « Less
