The bottom has no major condition issues. The top rim has several chips and a repair as shown. The spout is also chipped and missing the end. The end of the hollow handle is lightly chipped. For sale we have a 19th C. stoneware 2 gallon jug. The jug is marked Edward Stone Ware Co. Fort Edward, NY. The blue script reads G.V.S. Bleecker 139 South Pearl St. Albany NY. The script coloring remains strong and visible. The jug stands about 11 1/2" high. There is a sizable rim chip as shown, with that being the only damage. A lovely blue onion or blue onion style oval serving platter fully marked on the back. The mark is an impressed #2, SCH in triangle with what looks to be golf clubs? and also a blue mark. We could not ID this maker. The blue remains strong with gold lined trim. Measures 14" in length and is 8 1/2" wide and stands 1 1/2" high. No chips, cracks or repairs, just minor surface wear from use. We believe its German porcelain but could be wrong.   « Less

No chips or cracks or repairs. There are stray darker marks, possibly firing flaws? Mulberry tends to be more desirable than the blue.   « Less

M Zunder & Sons Stoneware 2 Gallon Crock New Haven CT A 2 gallon stoneware crock from New Haven Connecticut. Incised marked M Zunder & Sons New Haven CT This Jug Cannot Be Sold and on the bottom the crest logo. Maier Zunder was born in Fuerth, Bavaria, Germany, 1829. He immigrated in 1848, first to New York, and to New Haven in 1852 after his brother Samuel died. Samuel owned a grocery store on Church St. When Samuel died, his widow, Regina, asked Maier to come to help run the business. Maier and Regina soon married. The store became a wholesale house under the name, M. Zunder & Sons and distributed groceries, tobacco products, and wines. He also served a booking agent for the North German Lloyd Steamship Lines. The jug stands a little under 14". There is discoloration as shown and a very old rim chip also as shown. There is a cork still in place inside the jug. The handle has a hairline.   « Less

Another gorgeous piece from our collection of pitchers. This is Ridgway & Co. (Hanley, England) and dated to 1835, fully marked on the bottom. Original pewter lid which still works well. Vibrant floral patterns around the whole body with scrolled foliate design above and a footed base. A wonderfully ornate handle adds the finishing touch. Stands about 9 1/4" at its highest. Great condition, no chips, cracks or repairs.   « Less
