Antique, Victorian brooch / pin. Wedgwood blue and white jasper plaque set in a fabulous mount. Made in ENgland. The mark corresponds to the date used by Wedgwood 1785-1795. More »
Antique, Victorian brooch / pin. Wedgwood blue and white jasper plaque set in a fabulous mount. Made in ENgland. The mark corresponds to the date used by Wedgwood 1785-1795. (Mankowitz page 134). The silver mount may be original or much later. Measurements: Length of plaque alone is 21mm. Total length is 42mm. Weighs 17 grams. 8 sided little plaque in a deep blue jasper with extremely finely depicted figures which look like Adam and Eve being cast out of the Garden of Eden by the Angel. Behind Eve are trees and baskets full of fruit. The figures are so finely modelled that with a magnifying glass you can see the eyes and tiny details. This indicates an early date of manufacture. The back of the plaque has an impressed WEDGWOOD mark (all capitals, no England) and the letter R. It is in very good condition. No damage of any sort. The little plaque is set in a fabulous mount. It consists of flowers on a number of levels, in an openwork design. The top flowers are very bold and solid. Beneath that is a more delicate layer of scrolling botanicals. The back of the mount is no less decorated than the front. It consists of fine flowers, foliage and scrolls, again, in an openwork pattern. Secure pin and clasp. Status: For Sale Reference#: 4211 Condition: good Year: 1785 Title: ANTIQUE VICTORIAN BROOCH PIN WEDGWOOD JASPER FAB MOUNT « Less

Antique, Victorian 18carat gold and blue enamel bow ribbon brooch. Made late 19th - early 20th century. Possibly Swiss. Measurements: 1 inch long. Weighs 5 grams. Symbol of fidelity and stability, the bow was a popular theme in Georgian and Victorian jewellery. This bow is probably a little later as the movement and sinuous form indicate - probably dating to the Art Nouveau era or early 20th century. There is a highly successful contrast between the deep golden and blue colours. The gold is left to border the blue enamelled ribbon tied in a bow and to decorate it with little flowers and foliage. Original, secure pin and clasp. There is a maker''s hallmark in the center of the back. The gold tested for 18k. Good condition. Status: For Sale Reference#: 4210 Condition: good Year: 1860 Title: ANTIQUE VICTORIAN BROOCH 18K GOLD BLUE ENAMEL BOW RIBON « Less

Antique necklace. Sapphires and pearls set in 15carat gold. Made in England, circa 1900 - 1920. Measurements: chain without enhancer (pendant) is 16inches long. Enhancer is 2 1/8 inches long. Weighs 27.1grams. The chain consists of alternating flowers and pearls. The flowers are composed of sapphires with raised pearls in their centers. Joined by round loops on either side to the flowers, are pearls in a very sophisticated arrangement that has them raised above the surface of the body, so as to be in line with the flowers. (see magnified ''photos). Clasp with matching flower is secure and in good order. A matching, removable enhancer / pendant is suspended from a ring under the central flower of the necklace. It''s connection is a series of loops, with a gradaded front, set with pearls that form a natural extention of the pearl of the necklace below which they line up. From this a gold flower, echoing the shape of the sapphire flower in a much larger size, in whose petals an additional 4 sapphire flowers are set with a pearl in the center of it all. Another pearl and flower are suspended at the bottom. Gold sealed backs of all parts. The workmanship is outstanding. Quality superb. Pieces like this simply do not appear very often. Good original condition with no loss/damage/restoration of any sort. Status: For Sale Reference#: 4203 Condition: good Year: 1910 Title: ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN NECKLACE SAPPHIRE PEARLS 15K GOLD « Less

Antique Art Nouveau / Egyptian Revival ring. Made of 18carat gold and turquoise. Made circa 1890''s in New York by the Geo. O. Street & Sons company. US ring size 6 1/2. More »
Antique Art Nouveau / Egyptian Revival ring. Made of 18carat gold and turquoise. Made circa 1890''s in New York by the Geo. O. Street & Sons company. US ring size 6 1/2. Weighs approx 8 grams. Ring has everything a late Victorian Art Nouveau and Egyptian Revival piece could offer. The shank is in the form of a pair of nude women, long flowing tresses, arms stretched behind the neck. Scrolls on the shoulders lead to a crimped gold outer border of the bezel. The ring is set with a lovely carved turquoise scarab. The raised oval dome of the scarab in perfect proportion to the oval of the top of the gold surround, also approximately an oval, but in the opposite direction, curving around the finger. A great surprise is found when you examine the underside of the scarab: a carved scene taken straight from ancient Egyptian relief sculpture / carving, with a kneeling figure in worship. The ring is hallmarked with an S in an oval. This mark was used by Geo. O. Street & Sons, established in New york in 1837 and famous in the 1890''s for their rings, cameos, fobs etc. The ring is in good original condition. Antique, Victorian brooch / pin. Tourmaline, diamond, pearl set in silver on 18 carat gold. Made 1850-1880, most likely in France. Slightly over 1 3/4 inches accross the front. Weighs 13.6grams. Central tourmaline is 5-6carats. The brooch is classic Victorian. A large, rectangular tourmaline in a fabulous deep, dark green colour with faceted sides forms the center. It is held within a colette with tiny crimped border. Surrounding the center are scrolls, fans and feathers, all set with diamonds and with a pearl on each quadrant. Rose cut diamonds are wonderfully, close set. Diamonds flash and glint, their delicacy in contrast to the strong center stone which gleams or recedes as the light catches it. The back of the brooch that would be in contact with the wearer''s clothes is in 18k gold. Most Victorian jewellery was silver set on a gold plate at the back. There are a number of hallmarks on the gold as well as on the pin. Good condition. Antique, Art Nouveau pendant necklace. Made of 15carat gold, natural pearls, sapphires and enamelling. Made circa 1885-1910, probably in England. Measurements: from top of top sapphire to bottom of long pearl drop - 2 1/4 inches. Chain is 18 1/4inches end to end. Weighs 9.7grams. Gorgeous Art Nouveau design, use of materials and colour. Strong botanical theme. From the top: a lovely blue sapphire from which are two gold chains suspending an arc of enamelled flowers, minutely detailed with very finely set tiny pearls set in gold cups in the center of each flower. These fan out from another lovely blue sapphire, in a line directly under the top gem. This stone sits amidst the top of long, flowing, elegant green foliage with little round pearls on either side. Looping behind the foliage is a gold, wishbone shape from which a very long, natural pearl is suspended. Despite the fairly large size of this piece, it is incredibly delicate. It is suspended by a gold chain. The back of the long, natural pearl has a little applied plaque with 15CT hallmark. Very good condition. Comes in an old VIctorian box with Royal embossing, that looks like a good fit, but is not original. Antique very rare double miniature portrait brooch / pin. Enamel set in 18k gold. French, made circa 1820-30. Length approx 30mm ( a little over an inch). Delicate, More »
Antique very rare double miniature portrait brooch / pin. Enamel set in 18k gold. French, made circa 1820-30. Length approx 30mm ( a little over an inch). Delicate, typically Georgian / very early Victorian gold mount. The top depicts a beautiful, blondhaired young mother with a red ribbon in her hair, surrounded by her 3 babies. She nurses one, while another clings to her shoulder and the 3rd looks lovingly on. The woman with demurely downcast eyes, the details of which can only be seen with magnification - very lovely. This warmly maternal family scene is exceptional in itself, but the huge surprise comes when you turn over the brooch and discover the magnificent nude on the back. Again with the beautiful eyes, slightly darker hair in ringlets and a robe that fully reveals her upper body. A necklace or scarf falling between her breasts only serves to emphasize her nudity. The young woman is looking at herself in a mirror, held up in one hand. Even the fingers are beautifully depicted. Each side of the jewel is exquisite. The quality of the painting is fabulous - very sensitive and accomplished fine artistry. Colours delicate and refined, have survived perfectly as enamel does not fade over the years. The brooch might have started out as a pendant and been made into a brooch at a later date (a very long time ago), but there is no sign of any kind of alteration. The simple c-clasp has French hallmarks. Very good condition with no damage/loss/restoration to be found. True museum quality.
