Art Pottery : A Royal Doulton Advertiser Bibelot decorated with a dragonfly for Coal Tar Soap The bibelot is illustrated on page 260 of Desmond Eyles' "The Doulton Lambeth Wares". In the Doulton advertisement and is described there as an ashtray although they are generally referred to as Soap Dishes. The advert dates from 1935. This example is initialled WB for Winnie Bowstead. It measures 6" from edge to edge. Good Condition - light bubbling to the glaze around the Dragonfly which is normal for this model and from time of manufacture - very light signs of use as expected - no chips, no repairs and no lines Impressed mark on back: Specially designed and manufactured by the Royal Doulton Potteries for the proprietors of Wrights Coal Tar Soap - initials WB (Winnie Bowstead) 6 inches (15.5cm) length approx   « Less

Lovely deep dish bowl - actually a saucer for a tea bowl - depicting a Regency gentleman and his Good Woman on their way to church. Little fine leaf pattern in lustre glaze to the border. Enamel highlights to the central picture. Measures 3 cm high by 14.5 cm diameter (about 1.1/4 inches by 5.3/4 inches). There is a faint star hairline underneath the base, but doesn't go through to the face of the dish, so nothing real. Excellent condition.   « Less

Beautiful pair of Victorian plates - the pattern is Imari style with cloud and lotus borders, and gold scrolls and chrysanthemums to the central area. Colours are pale peach, Indian red, cobalt blue and gold. Plates are a good heavy weight and measure 26.75cm diameter (10.1/2 inches). They are very grand plates, but the only backstamp is Wm. Fairbairns & Sons in a garter mark. Pattern design is 3 over 2032. William Fairbairns operated in North Staffordshire, mid to late 19th century. There is a further impressed mark, but unfortunately the lettering in this second mark is too faint, although I can see " ...tone" which I think may be Iron Stone. The plates are rather like Crown Derby in style, but not bone china. Excellent condition.   « Less
