First let me say as a former collector of mauchline it is very difficult/rare to find two sided pieces. This cylinder could be a pencil holder, my guess, it stands 4 1/2'' tall with a turned base. There is an orange paper in interior. One side reads Burn''s monument made of wood which grew near alloway kirk on the banks of the doon. Reverse side reads Alloway Kirk. Nice clean piece of woodenware with interesting information on the wood which grew near Alloway Kirk, I''ve never seen something like this added on a piece. All original!
