A SET OF SIX CHINESE EXPORT FAMILLE ROSE PLATES, CIRCA 1760 The plates have a central reserve in the shape of a palm leaf that is outlined in an overglaze turquoise enamel. ;A large floral spring of rose-pink peonies and other flowers lie within the reserve. ;The border is painted with numerous branches and blossoms of white prunis and brown bamboo; all against ground of sepia swirls. ;Rimmed in ocher. ''The white enamel was an important element in the famille rose palette, for it made possible the mixing of shades of opaque colors through which three-dimensional effects of modeling in the Western style could be obtained.'' Available are six hard-to-find dinner plates with the Chintz (No. 338) etching. These were produced by the Fostoria Glass Company on the Baroque blank beginning in 1940. The dinner plates measure 9 1/2" across and are in mint condition, with no chips, flakes, or cloudiness. There may be the odd faint usage mark in the center of one or two but most do not have any utensil marks and were probably never used. These dinner plates are difficult to find and book for between $55 and $60 each.The price of these dinner plates is $30 each when purchasing one to two plates. For purchasing three to five plates the price is $27.50 per plate.
