This is a fabulous OLD vermeil tea set including 12 spoons, a tea caddy scoop, tongs and strainer. Each piece bears the mark of Jean Devaux, active 1838, and the guarantee for .800 silver. This set is exquisite in decoration, rare in age and in very good to excellent condition. The flatware housed in the original boulle decorated ebony box, with monogram on the box only. Nicest set of this sort I've found. Dimensions: spoons 5 7/8" long, tongs 6.25" long, 1" wide, scoop is 3 5/8" long, 1.75" wide. The strainer is 3,75" long, 2.5" square width & 0.5" high. The total weight of the silver is 218 grams. The box is 10.75" long, 8.5" wide and 1.5" high.   « Less

Utterly charming Louis XVI style sterling silver trinket or pill box by French Mastersmith Eschwege. The hinged lid boasts a central medallion with three repousse putto, angels, caressing doves amidst flowing drapery. Just beautiful! The cartouche has a pearl border, bell flower and scrolling foliate decoration on either side, surrounded by a sunburst partial fluting effect, a scalloped border with more pearls. delightful! The sides of the box are decorated with twining laurel leaf vines adorned with bows on a finely textured ground. This is bordered on either side with very intricate floral and foliate edging. The interior is coated with gold. Condition is very good to excellent; light signs of use only.   « Less

The decoration on this serving piece is simply magnificent! A lush repousse floral and foliate decoration on the lid and base of the tureen, a formed edge carries forward this theme, and an absolutely sensation artichoke finial crowns the cover. The textured handles merge the rocaille and foliate elements in the decoration. There is a cartouche on the cover that is without a monogram! Condition is very good to excellent. The piece is fully hallmarked with the silver standard for 950/1000 parts silver, the Minerve 1st tire, and the maker's mark for Emile Delaire.   « Less

Truly incredible artistry evident with this sterling silver sauce boat and accompanying stand. The boat is patterned with a rich floral and foliate decoration that photography defies adequate depiction. There are cartouches on both sides, rimmed with rocaille, and no monograms! The edges both of the boat and the stand carry out the foliate and floral motifs. This solitaire sized pot has exquisite repousse borders: A finely textured band near the top of the pot is decorated with putto or cherubs, musical harps and floral swags. The base has a floral border and just beneath the lid there is a foliate border. The pot has a very heavy ivory top knop and handle. Fully hallmarked, the teapot is in superb condition! Elegant simplicity at it's very best! This is a very fine tray, made by renowned Tetard Freres. active 1903. The tray is in excellent condition. The decoration is minimalist: pearl borders and palmetto corners. The tray is marked with the guarantee for the finest .950 sterling silver, and the tetard punch. It is 9 7/8" wide, 7 7/8" long, and weighs 508 grams. I don't believe there is a surface on earth that would not be graced by this tray! Exquisite coffee service comprised of a large coffee pot, lidded sugar and cream. Empire decoration at its best! The spout of the pot has a charming duck's head. All three pieces rest upon long legs tapering to precisely chased paw feet, and topped with elaborate foliate mounts, all exquisitely chased! The lids are topped with scrolling foliage bursting forth with a bud of berries. The edges adorning bodies and lids are the elegant stiff leaf motif so characteristic of the Empire styling. And pearl edges compliment the banded rims of all three pieces. Finally, the neck of the coffee spout boasts a splendid foliate and floral design. The handles are ebony, affixed to the sterling with gracefully styled floral medallions. Both Sugar, lid and cream are washed with gold. The pot stands an impressive 11.75"-12" and weighs 965 grams! The sugar stands 7.75"-8" tall, weighs 540 grams, and the cream stands 5.75"; weight 207 grams. An imposing ravishing set!   « Less

An unusual find! An antique French sterling silver flatware set, in the original box, with no monograms and made by a female silversmith! Elegant Louis XVI styling, laurel leaf borders, acanthus leaf accents; all solid sterling. That of course is the .950 sterling the French are renowned for. Condition is quite good. Some signs of use here and there; a tine not quite perfect, some mild scuffing on the knife handles. One flaw on the back of one fork, please see photos; it looks like a slip with the solderer. The cake flatware sets are a special size; the pieces are petite. The knives are 6.75', the forks 5.75". Combines weight of the set is 660 grams.   « Less
