Large Sheffield Plate salt, edged decorated with shell and scroll embossing. Pedestal stem. Later Bristol blue glass liner. Salt measures 4.5 cm high by 10 cm by 8 cm (1.3/4 inches by 4 inches by 3.1/4 inches). It is in very sound condition, there is a lot of bleed showing at the edges and the high points of the embossing. Very nice characterful piece, circa mid 19th century. « Less

Beautiful Victorian bottle stand, silver plate with ornate scrolled central handle and supports, three bottle rings and standing on three ball feet. Probably originally a stand for either bottles or narrow decanters, this could easily also be used for pickle jars etc. Height is approx. 35.5 cm high (14 inches). Diameter is 21.5 cm (8.3/8 inches).The bottle rings each have an internal diameter of 7/8 cm (3.1/8 inches) so should just fit a standard bottle of wine. Quite a striking piece to have on your dining table. No maker's marks. Some tiny very minor pitting on the stand base where the bottles would stand and unfortunately some damage to the bottom of two of the handle stalks just above where they join the base (see last photo). « Less

Two bowl nut dish, late 19th century. The bowls are shaped like Giant Clam shells, and the centre handle is two mythical whales. Stands on four little ball feet. Maker is Fenton Brothers, Sheffield, circa 1897. It has some minor pitting in the bottom of the bowls, but overall in extremely nice condition. Measures 21.5 cm long by 14.5 cm deep and 9 cm high (8.1/2 inches by 5.3/4 inches by 3.1/2 inches). « Less

Boxed Set of 12 place settings fish knives and forks. Original wooden case with two tiers. The blades and tines are silver plate. Handles are polished ivory. There is wear to this set - you could get a decent 6 place setting out of it, but out of the remaining 6 knives, two or three have peeling to the silver plate, and a few have stained handles. All handles are a little discoloured, as the material wears from pale to dark. All 12 forks are in very good condition (apart from colour variation to handles), and make ideal entree or dessert/cake forks. Box is very good condition. « Less

Late 19th century bowl or comport stand. It has no bowl with it, but if you had a bowl or pot with the correct diameter base, this could be a stunning addition to any dining table or sideboard. Stand is silver plated, 18 cm high (7 inches). It has a diameter at the foot of 14 cm (5.1/2 inches). The top holding rim has an internal diameter of 10.5 cm (4.1/8inches). Stand is well made, with lion's paw feet, swags of roses and daisies at the top, and hoofed feet supporting the top stand. Maker's stamp is C.G.H co. It has one little indent in on an edge, otherwise in excellent condition. « Less

Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, Christchurch". Pretty floral design engraved in the bowls and scroll work in the silver plate at the bottom of the handles. They each measure 15.3 cm long (6 inches). Mother of Pearl handles and silver plated blades and tines, with sterling silver ferrules. Hallmarks are for Sheffield, 1909. Maker is probably Charles Boynton. Six place setting, and although these are traditionally fruit knives and forks, they are also very good for use with entrees - for terrines, or savoury tarts or similar. Knives are 20 cm long and forks are 16 cm long. Condition: There is some minor edge wear to the plate mainly to reverse sides of forks where they have touched table or plates.
