We are selling our beautiful vanity that was given to us by our grandmother (the original owner). It was manufactured by the Dutch Woodcraft Shop, Grand Rapids, MI and believed to be manufactured between 1928-1937. This is a complete set with matching chair (with needlepoint cushion) and mirror. The condition of the wood on all pieces seems to be in excellent condition - no apparent structural damage - only water rings, dents or scratches from moderate and cared-for use during it's life. A refinish will provide immediate payback on this exceptional piece. We are asking $500 or best offer. This beautiful piece was made by a fine company (Irwin) from Grand Rapids, Michigan that was in business from 1919 to 1953. The piece is a replica of a Louis XVI Altona Dresser ( http://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/storage-case-pieces/commodes-chests-of-drawers/altona-dresser/id-f_778806/ ) that sold for $36,000. My limited research and emailing with a furniture historian, Bob Klein, tells me it is most likely a one of a kind or very limited edition of the dresser. Mr. Klein advised that Irwin made beautiful furniture and sent its craftsmen to Europe to learn about different designs. He described this piece as "magnificent" and try not to use it.
