This is rare bean shaped black glazed cizhou pillow from the Song - Jin Dynasty. It is rare because only a handful of black glazed cizhou pillow are known to be in existence. The outline on the pillow shows clearly how the pillow is being constructed. The bean shaped pillow has a flat base rising straight up to another layer of uneven flatten top piece. Behind the back of the pillow, there is a small hold to let the hot air out during the firing of the pillow. There is no repair or restoration. The glaze shows patches of iridescent silvery and oxidise pertina on several places as shown in the photographs. There are degradation, chips & minor losses, abrasions, as a consequence of long period of burial and subsequent cleaning. The dimension of the Song - Jin Dynasty bean shaped cizhou glazed pillow is: the Height is 9.0cm, Width is 14.1cm and the Length is 27.1cm. This is a circular copper scholar’s ink box with etching of a love poem on top of the cover. It has three seal ark on it, one on the extreme right and two just below the two below the name of the author. On the base of the ink box, there is also a seal mark likely to be that of the manufacturer. It also comes with the original used ink cake. Circa. late Qing to early Republic period. It is in very good condition with the exception of the welding lining at the bottom casing which is not noticeable at the bottom left side(see picture 3). This is a charming pair of rustic candle stand. Of a simplistic geometric design, this is an alter piece with some remain of the wax still sticking to some parts of both the candle stand. The pair is unusual in that it is made of copper rather than bronze or brass. So this could be a pair provincial candle stand. The base has a large piece of liquid lead pour into it and stuck, to act as a weight to stabilize the stand. The pair of candle stand is probably from the late Qing dynasty to early Republic period. No damage, repair or restoration. Only normal wear and tear. Other than that, the pair of candle stand is in good condition.
