Phra Phong Supan were discovered on B.E. 2456 in Wat Phra Sri Ratanamahathat, Supan Buri province. According to a golden scripture found together in the pagoda which described that Phra Phong Supan was created by Phra Mahathera PiyaThassi Saribut during the period of King Bormrajathiraj 2nd. It has strong　”U-thong” art style. Is the most powerful It is believed that Wat Pra Srirhattanamahtat, Supanburi Province, was built more than 600 years ago during the reign of King Utong, the first king of Ayudhaya Kingdom. Locals refer to the temple as Wat Prathat because “Prathat”, a chedi containing sacred relics, was located within the temple. In BE 2546 this chedi was discovered by a local farmer who was know to have stolen many precious artifacts including gold and gems. During the same year the chedi was officially opened, and fortunately the Kru still contained a large quantity of amulets of different classical styles, such as Lopburi, Sukhothai and Utong. King Rama VI had visited Supanburi Province and on the occasion Praya Sunthornburi gave him some of the sacred amulets. It was recorded that more than three carts of sacred amulets were found, and as such qualified it as the largest Kru within the province. Top museum quality painting. Superb colours and composition, incredible warm colours and detail.. " The Holy Child and St John (?)" This painting is a real Masterpiece, an incredible conversation piece. This painting in a ready to hang condition. The jpgs show some reflection. No flaking, no paint loss. The frame, not original to the painting, is more recent, from around 1750-1800, but well matching the painting. We found no signature or monogram at first sight but this can well be hidden in the darker parts of the painting. With an old bronze plaque on the frame stating " Anthony Van Dyck 1599-1641". This is a top museum quality painting, this painting is highly attributed to Anthony Van Dyck ( 1599-1641), studio of, school of, The painting "screams" out top quality. Painter and etcher Anthony van Dyck (1599-1641) was second only to Rubens in 17th-century Flanders. In fact he had worked at the latter's Antwerp studio as a young man. There he had concentrated on painting religious and historical scenes, like his teacher. Van Dyck had a huge impact as a portraitist of affluent burghers. From 1621 to 1627, Van Dyck worked in Italy, particularly in Genoa, where he absorbed the influence of Venetian painters, especially Titian. Later, Van Dyck worked in Flanders for several years, before suddenly leaving for London in 1632. Knighted by Charles I, Sir Anthony became one of the most sought-after artists of the English court. The remarkable elegance with which he portrayed his subjects certainly contributed to his success. In his later years, Van Dyck spent time in both England and the Low Countries. We had no research done on this painting, sold as found in the estate. Most probably a real "sleeper". This painting is part of a " pendant", two painting of the same size in the same frame.
