Amazing and unique signed Schmidt cameo carving in agate. Carved then sand blasted finish makes a wonderful bit of sparkle to the background. Well defined and good relief on the carving with great detail and a fabulous translucence that makes the sky look like a sunset scene. Hard to capture it on the camera. Look everywhere there are subtle and beautiful carving bits all over. Nice sized piece at 2'' wide and over 1 1/2'' tall. 12 diamonds in a very heavy 14K gold frame. A magnificent multiple dual cameos pin entwined by a snake or serpent, with a dual panels of scenes from Greek mythology, showing Hebe, Goddess of Youth, feeding Jupiter (disguised as an eagle) with Ambrosia, the nectar of eternal youth. Hebe, or Juventas in Latin, was the cup bearer to the Gods, responsible for feeding them ''Heavens Wine'' to provide immortality. The pin is of outstanding quality, and is heavy and has a pleasing feel. Almost 4'' high is is exceedingly rare to find multiple cameo pieces and the bright cut gilt snake makes it all the more rare.
