The center section has a variation of the egg & dart pattern, but more stylised. A pretty well thought-out design. The shades are great...heavy glass, with a thick glass step pattern motif. Antique Art Deco Slip Shade Fenwick Chandelier Circa 1933 Authentic Art Deco, slip shade, polychrome painted, 5 shade chandelier. Circa 1933. The finish, while being cleaned up a mite, is original and simply beautiful to the max. Hard to find a much nicer antique slip shade chandelier than this one. Wonderful condition. The shades are simply a treat, and in remarkable condition. Probably made by Consolidated Glass, or another quality glass house. Since we are curators of the only American Art Deco Museum, we can tell you a bit about this light. It was made by a firm in Cleveland, Ohio called: The Frankelite Co. The logo was a stylized "F" in a diamond device. They issued their products under the trade name of Diamond Lighting Equipment. This light, circa 1933, was part of their "Fenwick Series". This chandelier was Model 1255. The catalog says it has a spread of 21" (they actually rounded that figure up from 20 ½"). Frankelite was a rather small firm that very little is known about. We have a few examples of their work, and they are always rather unique and attractive stand-alone lights. The name and date of these fixtures has been verified by literature from the company as 1933. Measurements: * Height: 31" * Diameter: ~21" This fixture can be lengthened by adding chain links. Fine Consolidated Lamp & Glass Co. Martele Pair of Sconces Consolidated Lamp & Glass Co. of Coraopolis, PA was one of America's finest glass makers before, and during, the Great Depression. This Martele example is dated between 1931 and 1936. Unfortunately...Consolidated went bankrupt no less than three times during the Great Depression. They made outstanding consumer products, i.e. vases, bowls etc., and most outstanding shades and lighting. And everything that they made was the absolute BEST quality America had to offer to the world. Elaborating on designs from the French Exposition Des Arts Decoratifs of 1925, they brought out some absolutely wonderful shade and fixture designs. They made shades for their own lighting line, and for other lighting manufacturers such as Moe Bridges. They were simply a great company. This pair of sconces were just being produced in a cooperation between Moe Bridges and Consolidated, when Consolidated first got in trouble during the Depression. There are pencil reference flyers by Moe Bridges, and rough catalog representations from Consolidated, both showing these sconces. Consolidated stated: Suitable for lighting the best modern homes. Also shown as model 2950 with the title "Martele Commercial Line", a commercial tag, since the shade size was larger than contemporaries. This pair of sconces is often referred to as the most iconic pair of slip shade sconces of the Art Deco era. They simply are outstanding in design, and not often found for sale. These come from Consolidated's own Martele Line, and have a red bronze finished frame with their outstanding Martele iconic Art Deco shades. Overall Measurements: * Height: 11 ½" * Width: 6 ¼" * Projection: 5 ¾" from the wall into the room. These sconces have been completely re-wired, in our UL shop, with new sockets to conform to UL guidelines. Antique Art Deco Three Light Ceiling Chandelier with Slip Shades Hard-to-find, cute, 3 light Art Deco slip shade chandelier. Circa 1930, this Art Deco 3 shade chandelier matches the five and six shade versions that have been so popular when we have had them. True, high-end quality original cast iron antique frame with a nice pewter finish. The ONLY drawback to this smaller fixture is that a small decorative part of the frame decor is missing from one of the panels. It affects nothing structurally, but does catch the eye IF...and only IF...you are really looking for it. We have shown this minor defect clearly, but believe the lovely design carries the fixture quite well. AND, of course, we have reduced the asking price by two hundred dollars as well, to compensate. While the bowl has that great look, making it double nice is the matching stem. Just a quality presentation for a glass ceiling bowl chandelier. We do sell cheaper ones...but this one stands out above the other types. Measurements: * Height: 17" overall. * Diameter: 15 ½" The bowl is lit with a standard 3-socket cluster within that bowl, and will accept a 100 watt light bulb in each of the sockets, giving a full 300 watts of lighting. We did not fully power it up for pictures, as too much light blows out the focus of the camera lens. Art Deco Slip Shade Chandelier with Cut Glass Center Fantastic Art Deco 1930s chandelier. This is such an unusual light, it is hard to find a place to start. First, it is a 6 light fixture. Five of the lights are on the outside on the arms, in the gorgeous amber shades, and one is in the center behind the fine--cut glass--center panels. This center socket gives you three options for decor. You can use an amber light bulb...or a plain frosted tube light bulb...or even shut it off, since the 3-way switch at the bottom of the light turns the center light bulb on and off. Measurements: * Height: 27" overall. * Diameter: 21" This chandelier has been re-wired in our UL lamp shop with new sockets and wire to UL standards. Each new socket can easily take a 100 watt bulb, giving a total of 600 watts of light if so desired. Of course, LED bulbs are neat too. Going that extra mile...that we like to do...the rotary switch, near the bottom finial, is what is called a three-way switch. It allows you to turn the center light on ONLY (night light), or, turn the five shades outside ONLY, or, turn both the inside and outside lights on together. This ability to vary the lighting gives lots of decorating possibilities. The five cut glass center panels are just plain gorgeous. They slip in from the top, and I am pleased to say that they are in mint condition, with so little roughness that it is not worth discussing. The shades for each of the arms...while being lovely mellow amber...are also in outstanding condition, with only the most minor of roughness. The metal of the chandelier is, I believe, aluminum and some iron and steel for the main fixture metals, which has a nice ambiance of a pewter finish. All a very nice appearance. Measurements: * Height: 22" overall. * Diameter: 25" This chandelier has been re-wired in our UL lamp shop with eleven new medium base normal sockets, and new wiring to UL standards. Each new rim socket can easily take a 100 watt bulb, giving a total of 1000 watts of light, if so desired. Of course, LED bulbs are neat too. There is a center socket, which we suggest will use a great T10 tubular bulb to light up the center column of glass tubes. We will include the first one for you. You can see the construction of the light from the photograph we took looking down into the light. We removed six center glass tubes...which is normal for bulb changing...to show the center socket and the existing bulb now. For the ten sockets around the bowl...the angle can be gently changed to accommodate different bulbs the first time it is decide which bulbs you will use. Solid Bronze Art Deco Slip Shade Chandelier by Mid West Mnf So nice to be able to offer another really fine light to you. Here we have one of the scarce lights of the Deco era from Mid West Mfg, circa 1935. This is the 5-light Soleure chandelier. Mid West only made the best quality lighting. This chandelier is solid bronze, with a great finish. The castings are so beautiful, with lots of pierced parts which are...were...so hard to do, as any casting man will tell you. The finish does have some minor variations, but it also has a nice mellow appearance, and most antiquers would not touch this lovely...aged bronze...finish. It is simply beautiful. The five shades are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, and they all match each other very well. Art Deco 6 Slip Shade Top-of-the-Line Chandelier This fine light has an original antiqued metal finish in outstanding condition for its age. Yes, the finish does show its age here and there...but for an antique, pretty good. VERY nice are that each reticulated panel between the shades...between each slip shade...has a mica panel behind the reticulations for a very outstanding quality affect. The amber shades are also in pretty good condition. There are patches of minor roughness from being removed and replaced after changing light bulbs. But overall...pretty good. They are all original with those dark purple accents both to the slip shades and the bottom shade, but a little less pronounced on the bottom shade.
