Excellent elegant pair of sauce boats and trays made by Parisian silversmiths Flamant and Champenois. Comprised of the finest French sterling, .950/1000, the boats rest upon four finely chased shell topped feet. The handle mounted with rocailles. The graceful formed tray edged with strapping and on either end finished with chased floral foliate accents. Condition is very good! There is a monogram on one tray, which I make out to be "TB". But I am notorious for being terrible at decrypting these fancy interlaced monograms. The other tray has some very small areas of discoloration, like tarnish spots; and it has a very slight wobble. These are faint and minor; but even though your guests may not notice, I want you to know. Both pieces are marked with the .950 sterling guarantee and the maker's punch for Flamant & Chamenois. The sauce that is not monogrammed has marks that are harder to make out; but they are there and they correspond exactly to the other sauce. The size of the boats varies very slightly. The larger weighs 575 grams, each are 10" long and 6" wide. One is 5" tall, the other 4.75" tall, and the latter weighs 525 grams. There is never enough gravy at our table on holidays! So two sauce boats are a must. These are lovely and so elegant and classic, they will blend well with a myriad of services.   « Less

A delectable confection of the finest French sterling silver and startling cobalt crystal. Perfect for sugar, n'est pas? The pierced repousse body decorated in Renaissance style with strapping on a textured ground, bell flowers and lamberkins, a large pearl border trim, entirely hand patterned and chased. The lid has also a small pearl border trim, engraved lamberkins with scrolling floral embellishments, and an utterly delightful top knop, wonderfully wrought flower with generous foliate mount. The cobalt liner is in excellent condition. All silver pieces marked with the maker's punch for Massat Freres, the Minerve 1st titre, .950 sterling guarantee, and the body marked also with the charancon in use in 1864. The charancon is an importation mark, also a guarantee of .950 sterling; so at some point the sugar was taken out and then returned to Paris. The condition of the sterling is good. The lid has some polish resistant tarnish, and the body has some very small minor losses. It may at some point have been professionally restored; although it isn't clear. It's a beautiful lidded sugar, a gracious addition to any table and gorgeous showcase display.   « Less

Fabulous set of 24 knives, 12 dessert and 12 dinner, made of the finest French sterling by the finest French master-smiths. The Napoleon III decoration, 2nd Empire, comprised of shell motif, palmettos, blossoms and elegant scrolling foliate and floral cartouches. There is no monogram on these knives! All the knives bear the mark of Jean Augustin Sabatier, 84 rue Saint-Honore from 1843-1854. The dinner knives have the original steel blades and .950 sterling handles. The blades are marked for Sabatier and also punched with the maker's mark for Pierre Queille (1834-1846). Queille is a most revered name in French silver, often sought after by Odiot and Puiforcat for commissions; and clearly in this case by Sabatier. The dessert knives have .800 silver blades and .950 sterling handles. The blades bear the Sabatier punch. Some of the handles have another punch as well; cannot quite make it out. Fabulous French antique sterling knife set! Condition: good to very good. Some minor oxidation on some of the steel blades. One of the dessert knife blades appears to re-affixed to the handle. Superb set of 6 fruit knives, with mother of pearl handles, sterling silver ferrules, tips and blades; made by master smith Armand-Edouard Cardeilhac, active in Paris from 1851-1904. This is a classic set, exquisitely made with glorious rainbow hued pearl (the pictures don't begin to do them justice) and beautifully decorated repousse silver tips and ferrules. Each piece is fully hallmarked with the .950 sterling guarantee and maker's punch for cardeilhac. Condition is excellent. A beautiful patina on the tips and ferrules that I wouldn't think of touching. Dimensions:8" long, 0.5" at the widest.   « Less

Four beautiful pieces of Alvin sterling: an elegant coffee pot, sleek sugar & creamer, all atop a pure sterling silver tray. The lines are classic and elegant and the four pieces make a smashing display. No reason not to use them, of course. Condition is very good: a couple of very minor dimples and surface abrasions. The coffee pot wobbles a little bit. Essentially a fabulous grouping! Dimensions: the pot is 10"H and 7"W (spout to handle) and 1 3/8 pints, the sugar is 2 1/4"H, 3"D & 5"W, the cream has the same dimensions and holds 3/8 pints, the tray is 10:D and 1"H. Combined weight is 522 grams, 17 troy ounces. These pieces are not monogrammed! They await yours. I won't call these a set, because the pieces are not matched exactly. The coffee pot is marked S16, whereas the cream & sugar are marked 147 & S148, the tray S151. The cream and sugar are definitely the same pattern despite the different numerals; so I admit to being a little confused by the Alvin numbering system. Together these pieces make a beautiful marriage! So, I decided to sell them together, rather than separately.   « Less

Good set of six liqueur glasses made by the renowned house of Odiot. These crystal glasses are mounted in sterling silver holders, with handles. The gold plated silver is cast in Louis XV decoration including garlands, swags and finely textured grounds with 'pearl' accents. Marks: Each piece bears the Minerve 1st titre (950/1000 parts silver) and the maker's mark for Odiot. In addition, the bottoms are impressed with the name 'Odiot' and the city name 'Paris'. Condition: good. One notable flaw. Clearly represented in the pictures, one of the glasses has sustained substantial loss of gold plate.   « Less

Good antique serving bowl made of the finest French .950 sterling by renowned Parisian master silversmith Eugene Roussel-Doutre. The elegant contoured rim is accented with scrolling foliate and rocailles, surmounting layers of encircling engraved rocailles bordered with foliate enhanced strapping and a textured ground. Condition is good; there are signs of use, chiefly comprised on shallow deformations along the bottom of the sides and some dings on the bottom. Nothing noticeable if your plan is to actually use the bowl. And it is nice to find a fine French sterling piece that you're not afraid to use ;) ....not to mention affordably priced. The styling is simple enough to blend nicely with other serving pieces, yet distinctive, classic and quite lovely.   « Less

Marked for export, by Odiot. the deservedly famous Parisian House of silver craftsmanship with contracts to produce for the Russian Tsar and the Egyptian Pasha. This cup has a distinct Renaissance style in the manner of it's decoration, and it's shape. Multiple textures characterize the piece, achieved with hand chasing rather than guilloche methods. The elevated base is surrounded with one fabulous rocaille. One tier above is another encircling rocaille interrupted with large oval beads. The stem has three sections, each with a central shell form decoration, acanthus leafs, beads and strapping. The bowl of the cup is is fluted and textured, with a large rim. Very unusual and truly beautiful cup, fabulous addition to a collection! You won't find many of these.   « Less

Circa 1900-190, this exquisite solid sterling silver belts has 8 large ovoid sections, all decorated with repousse angels inspired by Sir Joshua Reynolds famous painting 'Cherub Choir'. The links mirror the putto motif, each large link comprised of lamberkins surrounding angelic mascerons. Condition is very good. Some of the pieces have minor areas of discoloration. For those who do not favor the aged patina of fine antiques, a professional clean will doubtless remove these very slight imperfections.
