All original, full figured, cross legged men with amused expressions support the Gothic styled arch and crown. On the door is a three dimensional flying dragon so well carved it appears to be in motion. Heavy original, ornate cast brass hardware and brown marble inset top. Monumental American late Victorian mahogany sideboard of exceptional quality and condition. The most unusual pierce carved side elements, give this piece a wonderful look from any angle. These heavy pierce carvings, flank a pair of beveled mirrors and shelf and are connected by a simple yet elegant arched top. The front edges of the side elements are acanthus- leaf carved from top to bottom. The base features two long door cabinets and a two door center cabinet. There is a single, velvet- lined silver ware drawer above each long drawer and two curved drawers above the center cabinet. All the base elements are heavily carved and the draw fronts are matched crotch mahogany veneers. The original brown marble top has a beveled edge and is in mint condition. This amazing piece is all original, no restoration or refinishing and no missing pieces. Last but not least, are the oversized brass hardware, all there and mint. All together the most exceptional Victorian mahogany sideboard we have ever had. 75 1/2" wide x 24" deep x 94" tall.   « Less

American Rococo sideboard/server in the manner of "Meeks". Exquisitely fashioned of exotic walnut solids and veneers and displaying the best of mid 19th century design and craftsmanship in all it's details. The arched, mirrored back is hand carved in a deep, open work full of foliate flourishes, a raised central cartouche and three turned finials. The original serpentine white marble top sits over a fine curved frieze panel and is edged in a crenellated molding which also frames the fancy inset door panels. The ornate door panels are cut from three layers of laminated walnut and backed by a re-moveable claret colored fabric which we have matched to the remnants of the original fabric. The base is a slightly curved, burled walnut and the sides are serpentine with carved corners on the front, top and bottom. The interior cabinet has a finished panel back and two original shelves, original lock and working key. Original finish, cleaned and lightly polished. Minor re-gluing and restorations. 70" tall x 17" deep x 49 1/2" wide.   « Less
