Stunning antique French boudoir clock set, white variegated specimen marble and ormolu. Clock is in the shape of a portico with the sunburst pendulum swinging between the pillars. Original pendulum is also ormolu with a blued steel rod. Marble is a lovely pinkish white with silver grey striations running through it. The clock movement is housed in an ormolu drum sitting on top of the marble pillars with beautiful enamel dial and decorated with floral swags and original delicately fretted gilt brass hands. Clock is surmounted by a pair of gilded love birds. The marble urns stand on serpentine shaped bases to match the clock. The French movement is of excellent quality and is by the Parisian maker Marcel Corpet (Rue Amerlot 84, Paris). It runs for 8 days and strikes on a bell and is complete with the original bell and pendulum, and a suitable key. Large and stunning clock set and ready for your home! A beautiful, quality boudoir clock of Boulle work in the Rococo style. Ornate Brass is delicately inlaid into the red shell veneer and the case is mounted with finely modelled ormolu. Mounts are typical of the style with stylized acanthus leaves, 'c' scrolls, shells and an elaborate asymmetric urn to the top. - The red veneer has mellowed to a lovely antique color with plenty of character. -The front of the clock is glazed to allow the pendulum to be seen swinging within the case. -It is the original ormolu sunburst pendulum featuring the sun god Mithras. -The white enameled dial with roman numerals and minute Arabic numerals, protected by glass door window The French movement is of high and running condition it runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a sonorous coiled gong. Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish. Boulle work is very good, there are three areas of minor losses to the red veneer or brass, the left and right shoulder.   « Less
