This attached ceiling base follows down like a rounded tube and pipes up to a crown with a ribbed frosted glass shade their is (4) that circles around. The round band of etched frosted glass measuring 3" high X length 13 1/2" and sets on (4) flat arms that holds the band in place above the (4) ribbed glass shades. This gorgeous lamp is a genuine Murano and dates from production around 1950. A very rare find, this particular lamp is even rarer due to being accompanied by its original lamp shade. This Murano is in excellent condition. The glass is clear and smooth, and there is one tiny flaw on the bulbed area of the glass that is nearly unnoticeable. The lamp shade is in amazingly good shape, showing only some typical color changing due to age and a small slight stain or discoloration. The glass is a fine example of pieces from Murano and features the rich hues this type of glass is known for. Dark blue applied stripes wind around the emerald green body from top to bottom. An interesting brass candleholder from the revival period. We have seen a number of these through the years with various bases and candle cups, however the standing man figure is always the same. Some have better detail than others and a few we have seen have no detail at all. This one is a nice example that had a fair amount of detail, now worn from years of use. These seem to be products of the early 20th century, but this form has been around for centuries. Some believe they are Russian Cossacks, but they are most likely products of Pakistan or India. Beautiful olive patina with old lead, tighten, to one thread, see close-up. See last photo for a scan of the V&A Museum page with the 16th century example. Price is firm. Thanks for looking.   « Less
