Antique desk set from Scotland. 19th century made of Burr Walnut finished lacquer, ivory and set with 2 Wedgwood jasper plaques. Original lable of jeweler retailer.Measures 12 1/4inches accross the front; 8 inches front to back and stands on 4 bun feet.The lacquer work is superbly painted to immitate Burr walnut. It is set with ivory plaques, secured by old, Celtic patterned studs. A raised box with removable lid has original retailer''s sticker of William Orr Stevens Jewellery, Glasgow Scotland. ....Repositary for Scottish Gems and every description of SCOTCH pebble work. The original heavy glass inkpots with bubble bottoms and faceted shoulders are missing their lids. Some loss to the delicate ivory plaques. Two fabulous Wedgwood oval plaques are set into the front on either side. Blue and white jasper ware in fabulous detail. Art Nouveau gilt and cut crystal double inkwell & pen holder with relief sculpted & gilded elegant woman dancing. French, 19th century.Measures 5 3/4inches accross. 3 1/2inches front to back.Finest French cut crystal with gilt metal mounts. This piece has to be examined from every angle and side to appreciate the tremendous workmanship. the shape is oval with a round front. Underneath is beautifully, beautifully cut crystal. Top corner of glass is canted. Around the front is a border of gold acorns and oak leaves. At the back this extends all the way up the side and turns over to the top of the crystal in the form of swags, flowers and foliage in exquisite detail. The inkwells are similarly decorated with acorn and oak openwork on the bottom. The metal caps have applied gold Art Nouveau figures of maidens in diaphenous robes, dancing. Superb.Condition is great. One metal cap has the most negligible of dings, scarcely a shadow and mentioned only for the sake of accuracy. Hinges are firm, glass is utterly MINT. Original antique Arts and Crafts brass desk set. Consists of a brass box, fitted with 3 rectangular boxes for holding writing paraphenalia, an octogonal box, that may be an ''extra'' and not originally part of the set and a stamp box, with compartments for two piles of stamps and a bear holding a punt or rowing. The main box is 8 X 4 5/8inches. It consists of scrolling openwork. There is a wooden shelf on two old wooden blocks inside, providing space to store documents etc.Above the shelf are 3 hand hammered, hand engraved rectangular boxes. Design is very much in the Aesthetic taste. They have large loops to house the hinges, the sticks of which are missing. The octogonal box has a different hand hammered and engraved design and is therefore perhaps not part of the original set.The small stamp box features a beautifully modelled bear as the handle. Great detail to fur and face. Here, the hinges are in good condition.Generally very good condition besides the minor bits missing from the hinges (replaceable even with a small stick/match). Antique bronze inkwell blackamoor bust of a Moorish woman. 19th century, possibly Vienna or French.5 3/8inches high. Base is 4 3/4inches in diameter. Weighs over 3 1/2 lbs.Round base. Woman''w head, luscious curls pulled back and tied with a gilded band. An actual net was placed in the carved furrows of her hair, part of it in metal and part of it in red string. Tiny turquoise beads and pearls hang from her ears. The inserted eyes are glass, one of which needs a bit of straightening. Soft gilt highlights and scarf. The headband is the rim of the inkwell''s hinged lid.Outstanding modelling on this figure - From the high cheekbones to open, sensuous lips, pattern and fold of scarf and strong chin. For Sale I have a Fabulous Desk Set Item made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The item is an Inkwell and it is done in Tiffany's most Popular "Pine Needle " Desk Set Pattern. The Inkwell is the Largest that Tiffany Studios made in this pattern. The Inkwell Stands an impressive 4" tall and is a whopping 7" in diameter. The Inkwell Displays a Brilliant Gold Patina on the Acid Etched Metal Pattern of Pine Needles. There are Slumped or Curved Beige Opalescent Favrile Glass under the Overlay. There are a total of 6 of these that are soldered together and Gold Plated. This can only be seen when you take apart the Inkwell and look inside. I discovered this when I was checking to see if any of the Panels were cracked or broken. The Top of the Inkwell is Solid Metal with the Pine Needle Pattern Acid etched into that. The Clear Glass Inkwell sits in its well underneath. The Inkwell is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no Cracks, Nicks, Chips or Dings to any of the Glass. There is one area on the outside Roll that you can see an Indent in the Metal. It is minor but it is there. It even still has its original Clear Glass Stepped Well for Ink. The bottom of the Insert has a countersunk polished Pontil. The Sign of Quality with Glass Items by Tiffany. The Inkwell Insert is also in excellent condition with only minor Flea Nicks on the top inside lip. The Gold is Brilliant an appears to have been professionally reguilded. There is some pitting on the underside metal bottom plate and cannot be seen when displayed. The Hinge on the Lid is tight and works just wonderful. The Inkwell is signed with the Impressed "Tiffany Studios New York" mark along with the Pattern Inkwell Pattern Number "847". This is the Largest Size and one of the Rarest Pine Needle Inkwells To acquire. This is an excellent example with a few minor issues. Usually when these are found there is either Damage to the Beige Glass or the Inkwell Insert is Cracked or just plain missing. I am very Happy to Report that Neither of these are present with this piece. This will make a wonderful addition to the Tiffany Gold "Dore" Pine Needle Desk Set Collection. This Inkwell was made Circa 1902-1920.   « Less

Antique inlaid wooden inkwell. Made pre-Israel (Palestine) - first half of the 20th century at the height of the Bezalel Art School production. Measures 2 3/8 inches accross the top (square). A little over 1 3/4 inches high. Carved to look like a stack of books, in volumes I-V with a 6th, larger book placed on top of them (forming the lid). Beautiful detail to the carving, which shows top quality workmanship. The top is marked in Hebrew: YERUSHALEM, which denotes a pre-1948 date. It is inlaid with a bird, swooping down with an olive branch in it''s beak. The bird looks like a swallow. The lid inside has a red velvet lining, slightly worn where it has rubbed against the lid of the inkwell. There is a small crack on the inner right side of the lid, caused by natural wood shrinkage. Original hinges in good condition. A sturdy latch opens the lid of the inkwell and within is a small glass container. All in good condition. This inkwell is utterly charming in it''s bookish and peaceful themes. The wood has a beautiful patina formed over the years. Unusual pieces of Judaica of this sort are extremely difficult to find.
